Hope it's a good one for all0 -
My Brother gave me his freezer yesterday...and it still had food in it! Is eating it cheating? My Mum is also clearing her cupboards as we speak and is bagging up tons of food for me. At this rate my spend will be nil for this month!
Happy New year all...!!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Did stay up to see the New Year in, but only just. Still recovering from lergy and now DH coming down with it...poor thing!
Got the ham (reduced couple of weeks ago and then frozen) on the boil...the water will then make a good soup, and the ham will last a good few days (hot tonight, cold tomorrow, then some in a souffl! as well as sandwiches...perhaps there will be some to go in the pasta and cheese sauce at the end of the week! So not much being spent this week hopefully!

Well I am back for Jan, lost the plot totally(sp?) in Dec as work was manic (S/E with OH) so have to take to orders when they're there. Jan we will be pretty quiet, so will be able to get back on track. OOH, apart from holiday in Cuba next week (paid for fairly MSE with repaid bank charges & hunting for best deal poss) so will be spending a bit there.
Aim for Grocery spend of £400 as DD2 & 3 will be home running things for us!0 -
Morning all and Happy New Year! I am getting on the case today with organising a place for my receipts and recording my spends. I too am not going to spend anything today, in fact I'm going to see how many moneyfree days I can have this year (I think this is called something on the DFW?).
AZJH77, I don't think that's cheating at all - the idea is to save some cash isn't it, so if you happen to be given lots of food for free then bonus! Just remember to take it into account when you reduce your budget for next month, unless it's going to be a regular occurence!:DThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Okay just reporting in where I am. Aiming for £100-£110 and have currently spent 26.17 - this included all of the other big monthly spends (loo rolls, flour for new breadmaker yay, and hopefully enough mozzarella for the month
). Anyway we are not only on an economy drive but also on a waistline drive and have managed a broad agreement not to go to supermarkets for the rest of the month, to stick to local F&V shops instead where everything you buy is good for you (and cheaper too hopefully). I have to drop a few pounds or else I'm going to have to buy some new clothes which is not very MS. My plan of attack is no wine, no chocolate and no cheese (except in cooking) for January. As veggies, I think this translates as lots of lentils. Wish us luck
Also of course Happy New Year. Feeling just a little bit fragile but the smell of freshly cooked bread is cheering me up a bit0 -
Hi everyone
i`m going to give this a go for the first time.
I defrosted the freezer yesterday and found some things i`d forgotten about which will help but i also now have lots of room to make ready meals as now the ice is gone there is quite a bit more shelf space:o
My shop is for 2 adults 2 large dogs and a cat, meals will be breakfast, a pack up lunch for both of us and a cooked meal each day, we are both off work this week so this makes things a bit easier for our first challenge.
The shop will also include all cleaning products and all toiletries etc so in fact absolutely everything!
I`m going to add on an extra £20 to our budget for filling up the freezer and as we have been doing irregular shops leading up to the festivities i`m going to start today instead of the weekend, if i find we run out of something it`ll have to be tough luck.
I`ll go for £35 per week and £20 for the freezer.
Good luck everyone!Planning on starting the GC again soon0 -
