Thanks again MrsMc - nearly in tears when the recipe wasn't in the first post!
Sound gorgeous and now filling in some holes on my Feb menu plan.Got a feeling that I just might do even better with next months GC now.
Oh and 'Pork butt'.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Somehow it just doesn't sound as tasty.
Just printed out Sammy_Kayes (think thats the name) monthly grocery list on another thread which is really interesting. Must have a check through and see what ideas I can glean to reduce my spending. There's always something new to learn.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Sorry to butt in, do you know what board that is on? I've done a search on the user name but couldn't find it! Would be interesting to have a look at what someone else buys in a month!Back and ready to save some money!0 -
Morning all, haven't caught up here yet, got distracted by the thought of making pies! MrsMC I have now got to the point that I read your posts aloud to whoever will listen because they are so, so... frugally inspirational! :T I have a little cooked mince with gravy and veg that was heading for the freezer, but I now think I'll need to make a pie and maybe some extra pastry cases or biscuits or something just to make full use of the oven. IF I can drag myself away from the computer long enoughI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Mrs Doyle,
Sammy_Kaye's thread is on MSOS...if you go back to index you will find it there...sorry can't do links.
MrsMC...thanks for recipes, rather fancy the idea of homemade sausages, although not buying any more gadgetry, will just try as patties...
Hopefully an NSD for me to-day although I have to go to bank with OH in a while and its always dangerous to go near shops with him!

Morning everyone,
i need to update my sig shortly as we went to asda last night.
We mainly wanted soda crystals but we got a few other bits and pieces too as we stock up on some smartprice things and the bacon i buy was on rollback.
I have decided that the GC will run from my payday as i am paid 4weekly and this should give a truer picture of what we are spending and will let me keep track better, i will be starting the Feb challenge on Saturday as i get paid this Friday so the last week (4) on my sig will actually also be week 1 on the Feb Challenge, hope this makes sense lol.
Frankerooney - i am glad that you liked the pork, i`ve been looking for a piece for this weekend but the only ones i have seen were the more expensive cuts so we might have to have chicken instead if i can`t find one.
theamazinggem- congratulations on your new job
Belfastgirl- I do hope you get your roof sorted out soon, we had a similar situation at our last house and it was awful, we had pans all over in the bedroom and couldn`t sleep at night because of all the dripping.
Well i`m supposed to be cleaning the bathroom and updating my sig but that will have to wait as my sister has just rung to say she is on the way over and we are going out with all the hounds for a walk.
Catch up soon.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Slightly over budget in month 1 already but I am pretty sure I will not have to spend anything else in Jan,mainly thanks to an enormous chicken I picked up in tesco. It cost just over £5 but I am making it stretch to 4 meals for the 4 of us.I have already used it for a beautiful roast dinner,a balti curry(using just left over breast meat, there was tons),I have plenty of nice meat left to make my first ever chicken pie and I have the meaty remains of the carcass boiling away with some garlic cloves to make the stock for soup, probably chicken and rice soup as I cooked too much to go with the curry and still have the leftover rice in the fridge.I am really pleased at making it go this far and am looking forward to making my first pie."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

BG23 and Bobbykins - So sorry to hear about all your problems, hope everything turns out OK :grouphug:.
Mrs MC I am mostly thinking that you must be a re-incarnation of a GC Mrs. Beeton.
Delivery from mr. T today and came to only :j£64 for the next fortnight although DS3 is away in Chicago so will not have to cater for him :j.
Will update siggie tomorrow as no time left to do it now.
Love the FM0 -
I just found £145 worth of tesco clubcard vouchers which I had totally forgotten about:j .I was saving for a holiday abroad, not going now because we have 2 big dogs so will holiday in UK, but will sell the vouchers on ebay instead and use the money for my shopping next month. I am sure to get more than the face value, maybe even double:D"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

Hi everyone, new to this money saving thing, posted my SOA last weekend, i get paid on the 28 th Jan , i spend around £260 a month on food, maybe a tad more with nipping to the supermarket for bits and bobs. so i need some ideas about shaving money off my bill, i dont really eat convienence foods, i usually cook from scratch, i have 2 kids age 13 and 16. i have already looked on money supermarket.com etc and got a tesco clubcard for petrol , any ideas would be really really helpfull.GROCERY CHALLENGE FOR FEBRUARY £260.00

Hi there alibambino.:D
Well done so far, posting your SOA is a big step, one I have not even taken yet.I discovered MSE last year and have been a member for just 10 months and have to say my life has changed.I really cant think where I would be now without the information, tips and advice I have had here. You will get loads of very usefull advice from loads of very lovely people.
Even if you just browse the sections of the site that appeal to you ,you will see how others do it and get invaluable inspiration.
When I first looked at MSE my grocery spending was well over £100 a week and I had to open my eyes to the fact that we had been surviving on credit cards for years. Now although my family still have some way to go to being at the debt free stage I would like I am happy to say we are definately getting there.MSE and the money saving mindset I have aquired thanks to the people on here has even inspired me to start up my own business.
Theres light at the end of the tunnel for everyone.:D"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0
