Hi Frankerooney
thats made my mouth water just thinking about it.
I`d bung it in the SC with lots of chopped onions some hot water (a couple of inches) some red lentils and some dried sage, you can blitz the liquid afterwards to make thick sage and onion gravy.
YUM!!!

Sunnyday I cooked the joint just the way you described and it was lovely. Thank you again. :T0 -
Ok found a calculator and its not so bad most i can put down for next months food bill and i got some great knockdowns on some chicken pieces and mince 6 meals for £4.22 the fresh chicken costing the most at £1.12 each pack but i normally pay £2.50 for frozen and about 150g less so i'm still happy.
so my last big shop has cost me £20.43
£4.83 left for the month.Still TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

So have managed a feeling very sorry for myself spend - £1.19 on OJ and £1.45 on chocolate biscuits which I have already scarfed most of
DH is away till Friday, it's pouring and the roof is still leaking like billy-o. I have to go up every hour into the attic to change the pans under the leaks because they're right under the eaves so only my good baking tins fit and I have to crawl on hands and knees to get to them. Am praying the rain dries up during the night or I might have to set the alarm to go up and do it.
To top it all I have PMS and am getting over the cold and it's freezing in here because the attic is open (I can't reach to close it, will have to get DBIL to do it when the roofer has finally been). Yet I am also having to keep the heating on to try to dry out the ceiling. And I am idiot enough to be a bit spooked by having to sleep in the house on my own with the attic open. Can't bear to turn the light off in it as it is.
Rant over. Sorry for sounding off .... I am sort of proud that I didn't buy the crisps that my hand automatically reached out for tho0 -
NSD for me today.I made wholemeal rolls yesterday and the kids enjoyed tuna mayo rolls for tea.as they have a cooked meal at school they usually have a sandwich for tea once a week. The rolls were so nice they asked for them again today

Forgot to add yesterday that sent in another weeks worth of school dinner money for DD1.
Have added up all reciepts so far (and scraps of paper where I'd jotted down odd spends!). Have included next weeks school dinner money.
Groceries £206.58
School dinners £28.00
DH lunches £36.79
Eating out £37.00 (includes takeaways)
DD1 birthday £20
Grand total £328.37 (budget for month £350 but 9 days to go)
DH has another 7 days of buying lunch so approx £14 so that takes us up to £342.37 leaving me £7.63 to last for the next 9 days.
This is actually much better than I thought I'd be and I'm sure I'm going to suddenly remember something that I should have included. We will be eating from the cupboard, but have just made up a batch of mince so it'll be cottage pie, lasagne and spag bol for the next few days! As long as I don't run out of milk I'll be fine.....0 -
An NSD today. I did notice DH carrying a Tesco bag though - containing his deodorant, special conditioner and some facial cleansing strips. He says they don't count in the GC because he paid from his own money rather than our joint account. I said that I need to know how much we are spending on these things if I'm to budget realistically. Either way, I might splash out on my favourite facial cleansing wipes from Ts at the end of the week if we've not spent our budget, with or without DH's toiletries. I've been holding on because last year they seemed to have BOGOfs on them quite regularly.
I made some more of the wonderful hobnobs, once I'd found the recipe. I've printed it off now. The children love them! The Ravenous One even commented on how tasty the rice was tonight, wolfing down the sweet and sour pork. He's complained that he hates rice for the last three years so this was something of a triumph. The pork was pleasing too - another big meal out of our Sunday roast leftovers, that cost me less than £3 for the joint. My agonising decision not to buy the jars of s&S sauce on BOGOF at Morrisons yesterday worked out OK. I popped in some onion, tinned tomato, water, tomato puree, honey, orange juice, ketchup and vinegar then lots of shopped veg with the pork and it tasted perfect - more luck than judgement!0 -
BG23.....oh dear, lots of hugs ((((0)))) for you!
What an absolute nightmare! You should be SO proud of yourself for resisting the crisps.:T :T ....I'm afraid we would now be down :-
1 bottle wine
1 large box chocs
1 box tissues (for my sobs!)
1 giant family pack of hand cut crisps
1 tub of salsa
1 good book to take my mind off it all
(and 1 enormous pack hedex for my poor old headache!)
also, I'm with you on the spookiness of the attic   , so don't beat youself up....I know it doesn't make logical sense but then where's the logic ever been for scaredy cats like us?
I'll be thinking of you hun, and praying for a dry night.
Good luck
Bobby0
