Well done theamazinggem on your new job, best of luck with it too. Regarding taking OH shopping I learnt 19 years ago not to take him and not to allow him to go shopping for us on his own. DH comes home with all sorts of goodies that we don't usually buy and doesn't realise it is because we can't afford them on our budget. He shops when we are away on holiday and we still have foods in our cupboard that he bought in September.

NSD again for us today, snowed in so watching old movies with the log fire lit.

  • A NSD for me today, as off work feeling horrible :(

My mum rang up earlier and asked if i wanted anything, so i asked for heat magazine (a very necessary purchase dontcha know!:p) My boy is also poorly so we couldn't walk to the shop today.

Anyway, she turned up a while later with heat, 2 pints milk, a loaf of bread, a big bag of satsumas, a sliced soreen, a box of strawberry nutragrain, chicken breasts, petits filous, blackcurrant lemsip, a vicks squirty thing, hello magazine, some wotsits, an underground ernie magazine and some reading books for my boy!

I offered her some money, but she refused to take it. She knows all about my DFW aspirations and just wanted to help out, I feel so lucky to have much a lovely mum, especially as shes feeling worse than me! :o
Back and ready to save some money! :D
  • Just remembered that she also bought creme eggs, a box of microwave popcorn and a reeses chocolate bar :o

I really am very lucky to have her xx

Phew.. my great December/ January two month budget finishes today, it's been a long one!! Set myself £100 for the two months and ended up £33.55 over but with a pretty full freezer and storecupboard.

Budget for 'February' starting tomorrow is £50 - fingers crossed I do better this time round!

Hope everyone else is doing well x

Just back from sainsburys, had to top up milk, bananas, eggs, cornflakes for oh, potatoes, cheese and got a few other bits that didn't need so much, self raising flour, pita bread, veg pack that was reduced oh and OH insisted we got some bun cakes for a treat. He nearly tried to convince me we needed more glasses but i just said there are too many for the cupboard as it is and he left it at that which makes a change. Came to 20.34 altogether so have enough left in budget to top up the milk during the week if needs be. Def spent more than i needed to at the beginning of this month, gonna try to spread it out a bit next month especially since i won't be getting a tesco delivery.our month ends next wed when oh gets paid so just over a week to go.

bebee have you got a Morrisson's near you ? In my experience they are cheaper than other supermarkets for cut flowers & house plants. HTH

Have boiled a gammon and have a lovely pan of soup cooling in tubs -1X1pt for tomorrow and 2X1pt to freeze for hubbies flask...just
    • 2 1/2pt stock from cooking gammon
    • 10 oz dried peas -soaked in boiling water for an hour then drained and rinsed. you can add more if you like it really thick.
    • 2 carrots -cut into chunks
    • and 1 onion chopped
Drop everything into the stock and cook gently until everything is tender...then blitz with a stick blender..and done all but a grind of pepper :D

BigMummaF - what do you want to know about the sausages? Is it the recipes you want?..let me know and i will type some up ;) .

Been to LIDL yesterday. The total was £11.01. Tried to stay within £10.
There where 3 extras, if I would of left them on the shelf, I would been within my £10. Hey never mind!

But, we are still within Budget, so far we spent £211.85 out of £240. I still need to buy some fresh stuff on Thursday and Monday. But hopefully, we will stay within Budget this month.

Next Month is going to be tricky. We have to stock up on Meat, Nappies and wet wipes. I think, I will have to set a bigger budget for that. Can't wait for DS1 to be out of Nappies! He is refusing to potty train at the mo. ;)
