And read the second post of the NEWBIES FAQS again, as it already tells all new posters that a proper LBC allows 30 days to respond.  The clue is in the fact this letter gives 14 days.

Interesting, though, that they seem to disguise this as a LBC. The return address is even Northampton...

Now received a 'court claim' for £205. Unfortunately I am out of the country until August 6th, so cannot do much with this. My wife is going to scan the documents and send them. I will try and post here when received, though I will be out in the wilds.

With a Claim Issue Date of 3rd July, the Defendant has until Monday 22nd July to file an Acknowledgment of Service, but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.
To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.
Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, one has until 4pm on Monday 5th August 2024 to file a Defence.
That's over four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute.
To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.
Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.

Here's the first 2 pages. I have 14 days from 8th July to acknowledge service, another 14 (not 30 total as has been mentioned) to send defence. I am heading into remote mountains for 10 days, out to resupply, back in again... perfect timing!

The claimant has used a PO Box as their address, contrary to Practice Direction 16(2)(1).

I don't think anyone mentioned 30 days to respond to a Claim, did they?
I can however see the suggestion that one has 30 days to respond to a Letter Before Claim, which is correct.
