Morning everyone
Well, to be fair you are probably all still in bed but I am sending you good morning hugs anyway. I was wake at 4.30am so I am up.
After a very difficult week at the paid stuff I had a bit of a meltdown yesterday morning about the state of our garden. DH planted up our flower beds a couple of years ago and they look lovely but the area around the back door is a mess. We have a concrete patio which was here when we moved in and which we have had all sorts of plans to do up but never had the time and money. In lock down DS bought a big old cable drum to use as a table and made stools to go with it but the drum has fallen to bits. Other stuff (not mine) has accumulated round it.
So £200 spent yesterday on a new table and chairs, outdoor cushions, solar lights and a few plants and other bits. We already have pots that can be filled.
So today's plan is to knock the cable drum to bits, clear the whole area, pressure wash the concrete, paint the fence, scrub and plant any usable pots, and put together the new furniture.
I was looking at a cheap outdoor rug yesterday but presumably you have to bring them in every time there is a chance of rain which is a faff.
I also need to Fly inside, we have visitors next weekend. All throws and cushion covers from the LR are already in the wash.
Catch you all later x9 -
Morning everyone xx 👋 to YL xx
I'm up, made my bed, brought down the laundry hamper, taken my meds, completed Wordle, managed two lines on Connections, and I'm supping my first brew.
Blue tits are already busy. I went out, in the cool of the evening, and pulled more grass from the lavender border plus random stems of barley and oats that were growing through the 'lawn' .... bird seed!! I was concerned that I might have spooked the blue tits, so very glad to see them this morning.

Morning all. I've not even been up half an hour so I'm slurping first cuppa. I have started to prep some food for Poppet.
It's our anniversary today so I'm not doing my normal Saturday stuff. When DH gets home from work we're going to the coast for fish and chips. We know how to celebrate!
Have a great day everyone with not too much flying as it is the weekend.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
morning all
Ive been busy.
Yesterday i was on a training course but i did get into work to clean upstairs. Basically i do the floor which has a carpet section and a tiled section, clean the kitchenette and the loo and then pull in a neglected area to i hauled the dyson upstairs as the vacuum up there is rubbish and did the carpet with that, with windows open and fans blowing i got the floor dry. The tiles are white so look dirty pretty quickly, especially if we’ve had rain.
No flying done at home other than S&S but i’ve got 4 loads of washing to peg out and am expecting the neighbour over the back to trim the hedge.
Today i need to price and pack for tomorrows craft fair. Any spare spoons will be put to good use!
Hope you all have good weekendsDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Happy Anniversary to you and your DH, Jazee
Enjoy your day at the seaside!
We are having quiz and chips at church this evening, raising funds for Christian Aid.
I have already flown a little - wiped dirty marks off the bannisters and back door, loaded the DW (so that I have clean spoons to send to Valli), and S&S'd the kitchen. I may not get round to doing much more today, as
- I have to do some preparation for tomorrow's church service
- I am off to the optician's at 10.20 to pick up my new specs and declutter £££
- I need to walk Rosie before lunch as the forecast says that there will be thunderstorms this afternoon
- I might need a few zzz after lunch because I woke up even earlier than YL (though I did go back to sleep for another hour after a cuppa and a few online jigsaws).
Some of you may remember Charlie, who was the youngest member of my Tots group when we had to close because of lockdown, and was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was just 1yo. He is now 5, just started school, but has continued to have regular scans and radiotherapy. Unfortunately this week's scan showed that the cancer has returned - so sad. Thoughts/prayers/posivibes for him and his family (mum, dad and 6yo brother) would be much appreciated.
Let's all make time to chat to our loved ones at some point during this weekend xxx

Thank you Kaz.I have a lot more chubbage to fling- I sincerely hope that Fayolle is still my friend come November when I've hopefully flung another 3 stones ish. 😊. If you duck, Fayolle, it'll miss you and.....oh. Sorry HB I think you're next in line.
RxxThanks Round, that's very kind but your generosity is totally unnecessary. I'm managing to pile on the poundage without your help, the heaviest I've evere been etc etc whinge whinge whine whine.Catching up with Fred once again as it's been a busy week. So far I've managed to solve and deal with:- replacing the battery on the stick dy$on- ordered and put away two new toner cartridges for my printer and paper, both from the bay of E because the local stationery supplier I've used for 35 years has been sold on again and they now need two trade references!- finished and sent off my tax return- bottomed the filing tray- written out a packing list and started gathering all the gibble I need for next week. I hate leaving packing to the last day- checked in for the first flight despite Logan Air being incapable of sending emails to 'old/heritage' email accounts like Blue Y0nder and BeeTee apparently! Good thing I have a junk email account I can use for emergencies when V!rg!n is playing up, which it does sporadically,- reconciled two bank accounts and paid off my credit card prior to my Hadrian's Wall amble / trudge / hike / wander next week- laundry basket bottomed with everything dried outside on the line, folded and put away- stocktaken the freezer because I don't want to go shopping much and we can eat out of the freezer for weeks, with top ups from the C0-0p at the bottom of the road - it makes me much more imaginitve about using tins like sweetcorn etc anyway so that's a multiple win:win- finally managed to book a hair cut having texted my lovely hairdresser on his personal phone because I couldn't get through to the business and discovered it's been shut and he's moved to another place, which was a bit inevitable which was why I asked for his personal number a few months ago- shoved a pile of gibble up in the attic and put most of it where it belongs- sorted out the bird feeders in the hope that the smaller birds will return after an absence of some months. Missing the sparrows and tits. The pigeons are doing well, which I don't particularly like but an elderly neighbour loves.- took said elderly neighbour out to lunch and had rather a nice time with her again- rejigged Wren's food so that she's still losing poundage and doesn't think she's being starved- sorted out an A4 superfat file that's been a nightmare for years but is invaluable- pruned three bulging drop in files and archived that paperwork in the attic- turned the double around because Lovely Lodger left after three weesks. The letting side of things has never recovered from the Pandemic theatre shutdowns, and we lost all of our gorgeous European scientific undergraduates and post-graduates due to a vote in 2016. Belovéd and I discovered after 30 years of providing accommodation to others that we actually quite like having the house to ourselves too, so I'm not going to go out of my way to boost bookings by Air BnB-ing us. We get returners and recommendations and I'm fine with that lower level of business. Took one booking for a week in June despite all of that, so it's ticking over well enough. There's been other stuff like a bit of vacuuming and dusting along the way but my priority this week has been to sort out problems that have needed doing and been annoying me for months.Today will be finishing off the things in the communal garden that need doing, plus the sundeck and yard with Beloved's help - which has been agreed. We'll see.Better is good enough.6 -
Morning all,
Iona - My thoughts are with Charlie and his family. So hard x
Jazee, that sounds perfect to me. A trip to the coast from here is an expedition, so it never happens.
Well done, YL.
We are out this afternoon at a beer festival, so all flying is being ticked off this morning. So far I have dusted and vacuumed downstairs. We have visitors next weekend, so I also need to shift some furniture around in the spare room / craft room. They probably won’t want to share with all my sewing paraphernalia lying around. Outside flying is also on the list, but that may get pushed into tomorrow, along with the usual meal planning / fridge sorting plus working out what I am going to feed next week’s visitors.

YL .. B&Q do a woven plastic outdoor mat which can stay out. ours was about £15. The natural fibre nes need picking up but this is a nice plastic thing.. we do actually put it away otherwise they get worms living under them which is gross..
Responded to an aggressively rude letter with a politely rude email.. see how they like it!

Me again. I am sitting here fuming. DH doesn't want to go out today. Apparently we can go tomorrow but tomorrow is not our anniversary. Anyone else feel that their world is small?
Anyway I've washed the breakfast dishes then took the car and drove Poppet to a village nearby for a lovely walk round a field filled with wild flowers. The tall buttercups were amazingly pretty.
Home now, in the garden to read a book and ignore DH.Spend less now, work less later.8
