Could you hoover out the debris too, please?0

Sorry guys, I posted a reply yesterday but for some reason it's disappeared
Let's try again....
It's a massive relief that the joist isn't too badly affected. But I'm guessing it'll need some reinforcing. Right now it's 6cm wide and 7cm deep.
These are pics post hoovering.

As this is just one joist, you can probably get away with it as long as adjacent joists haven't been butchered with the same pickaxe.Unfortunately, being so close to the wall, there is nowhere to bolt a reinforcing plate to that would be effective. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
Thank you FreeBear. Thankfully it doesn't seem any other joists in that room have been butchered, but I will double check this.
Now to look at all the fixings to see how low down (or not) they are. How low would be safe to prevent any pipes becoming loose?
And to figure out the best way to cover this hole. Would I be right in thinking ply again and somehow fix it to the existing ply?0 -
This is something someone suggested. This method might also prevent the pipe coming loose?
