  • So a few months ago I started the 100 envelope savings challenge - I've got £585 in there but I'm thinking about just taking that into the bank and using it to pay towards the debt.

I do and don't want to............I do and I don't - oh my own brain annoys me.

I'll struggle to make these monthly payments each month so I know I should throw anything at it but I love the idea of having some savings.

I know I could just start again.

    Okay I'm doing it!

I'll head to the bank today.

That's awesome on your savings, well done! I know what you mean about having the savings though - it's a lovely mental boost.

Could you keep 50% of the savings as savings, and put the other 50% towards some debt, as a bit of a compromise?

    Natwest OD - Start: £1,500 Current: £1,500 |  Creation Loan - Start: £2,152.33 Current: £2,082.90  |  Barclaycard CC - Start: £5,242.42 Current: £5,416.45  |  Novuna Loan - Start: £8,598.43 Current: £8,366.04  |  Tesco CC - Start: £9,420.22 Current: £9,885  |  Northridge Car - Start: £15,584 Current: £15,017

Starting total on 02.07.2024 is: £42,497.40  |  Current total: £42,267.39 (0.5% paid off)
  • Yeah I could but the hit of paying it off the debts is gonna be better for me.

I've already decided to pay it off the Tesco CC which will cut my monthly payment by nearly £300 so I can then use that towards other cards to get this debt gone ASAP.

Thinking of starting up Avon to make a bit more on the side but not sure its even that popular anymore? I'll have a look into it.

  • Just done a £3 survey with Y Live - my balance with them is £25 so halfway to the cash out amount.

Could do that this month - just depends how many come in but could do with that £50 to put towards something.
Another £1 today so up to £26 now.

I think Avon can be a good thing if you've not got anyone local. I know one of the ladies I used to work with did it for a bit and mostly took orders from people in the building we worked in.  It was quite nice as it was mostly word of mouth.

I got my first £1 on YLive today - inspired by your mention of it, I joined up.

Yay to the £1 - I'll need to check my emails to see if anything has come in. Been busy today.

Listed some paw print collage designs on Vinted today and might have my first sale already! Could be a wee side hustle but not gonna get too excited about it.

Paid the rest of my Tesco CC off today so I'm already 1 debt down!!!

    £765.10 - Very
    £1,191.59 - Tesco - PIF - 05072024
    £2,389.51 - Virgin
    £6,749.16 - Lloyds
    £11,095.36 - Total

  • So still no update on the insurance claim for Bailey - really hope it hurries up cos my policy expires on the 19th!

Lloyds statement has been produced so 1st payment made towards that debt.

Feel so focused this time - just hope I can keep it up.

    Monthly Payments
    £85.00 - Very - 05072024
    £300.00 - Tesco - 05072024*
    £182.94 - Virgin (£246.00 from November 2024)**
    £260.00 - Lloyds - 05072024
    £827.94 - Total

    Notes
    * Payment amount was £300 for July but I actually paid this in full. Amount paid was
£1,191.59. This means I can free up more to pay off other cards from August. I was able to do this because I had £585 in cash saved at home which I decided to use to pay the debt rather than save.

** Minimum payment of £25 has been made so I still need to find £157.94 to pay by the end of July to hit my target for this one.

    Sunday List
    - FT shift
    - 2 paid dog walks
    - Create paw print collage sold on Vinted
    - Tidy living room
    - Tidy kitchen
    - Tidy bedroom
    - Tidy bathroom
    - Tidy dining room
    - Laundry

I got another £1 survey completed yesterday so up to £29 now.

My neighbour also just had her dog walker cancel for a few days while she's on holiday so I've agreed to walk her 2 dogs which she'll pay me for so whatever I get from that I'll add to my 100 envelope savings challenge - it's free money in my eyes and it will give me a boost to get a good start made on that after using it last week to pay the CC.
