At the age of 41 I've come to the realisation that I've lived my life being a bit of a people pleaser and always putting others needs before my own.
Today I've decided that it's time to put myself first and focus on my own health, wealth, future and happiness.
This is my era and it's time to plan, focus and start smashing my life goals.

So the reason I've decided to start with a fresh diary is that I've had some unexpected bills due to having to make changes at home so the debt totals have changed a bit and I was in a car crash last week.

No injuries and both my dogs who were in the car are also okay but I'm pretty sure they are going to write off my car which is annoying but the other insurance company is sorting it all out so it's just a waiting game.

Off to work out the debts and a payment plan.

I totally resonate with this, we definitely have lots in common according to our diaries. I've always been a people pleaser and I too am putting myself first. Been working through some of the 'conditioning' for the last 2-3 years or thereabouts (some people may call it a midlife crisis) but I am older than you :) . I'm never going to be the person other people want me to be and that's ok, because I am me, and embracing authenticity. I've got a lot less hang-ups than I had for the last 40 years and it's never too late to start smashing life goals! I'll be cheering you on x

Thank you @blubella - it's so difficult to change but honestly I've run myself into the ground more times than I care to imagine for people who would do nothing for me.
I've got debt to pay off which my toxic ex has run up and I'm just sick of it.
If it doesn't bring me joy or make me feel good then it's not happening anymore.
I've managed to get a new 0% card for 27 months so I'm going to try get all my debt onto that then get it paid off as quickly as I can - I at least have the 27 months as a buffer because well we know how life can be.

I dog walk part time and I've got this client who has still not paid a £145 bill since March. I stopped walking his dog in April due to this so today I have typed up a before action letter to let him know that he has 14 days to pay before I take him to small claims court.

It will cost me £20 to do but will be worth it if he gets a CCJ for it.

Will get it printed at the library today or tomorrow and get it posted through his door.

Well done on the 0% for 27 months! I've managed to get everything onto one card but as there are 3 separate amounts added at different times, the 0% ends on different dates..and one is June 1st! Working hard on paying the last £300ish off and then next one is Jan 2026..phew!

Good on you for chasing the money you are owed, you should add the £20 expense on to the bill. Surely you are able to reclaim that?

  • I know - can't wait to get the balance all transferred and a proper plan in action.

Yeah will post the letter tomorrow and it does confirm that all legal and additional expenses will be added to the bill but he can still choose not to pay.

Honestly I'm not holding out hope for the money now I just want it to affect him somehow - is that too petty?

Aw you can do it!! I'll be cheering you on all the way.

  • Still no update on the car - will give them a wee phone tomorrow.

Today I am working the FT job and have 1 paid dog walk to do so not a bad day.

I'll get some housework and washings sorted too.

    Exciting Sunday for me!

  • Got my online log in for the new 27 month 0% balance transfer card so hopefully the rest comes tomorrow and I can start getting that sorted out.

Working from home today and no paid dog walks so spent the morning pottering about and doing washings in between meetings.

Need to take my own 2 dogs out now and will pick up a wee lunch on the way back.

Going for a buffet dinner tonight for a birthday dinner. My pals wee boy was 8 so he wants to go out for a group dinner - I won't say no to that!
