they have now sent me an email saying they will re instate the pension but it looks like the offer of a lump sum was a one time only offer back in 2016 which i have now missed out on ! the sum was paid to another person with same name and date of birth as me they confirmed back then they did not check NI numbers. I feel this is unfair and need to find out what i can do as I should still be entitled to be givn the option for the lump sum surely2

Why didn't the person who received it query it? I would if something like the lump sum due on my pension wrongly arrived in my account.0

They said the lump sum was a one off offer only at that time and to be honest I wasnt aware if i had a pension with them i was just investigating lost pensions and found this out it was around 41 years ago when i worked there0

When they say they are re-instating the pension, does that include the lost investments since it was incorrectly paid out?1

That is all they have told me on an email they said they will be back in touch in next few days, I would have took the lump sum and hope I am able to get this0
