Not a NSD I'm afraid. Quite the opposite, I bought new clothes for my holiday in August and spent £200 😐. However I am happy with my haul and some things I was desperate for. A lot of my clothes are second hand, but I really needed new tshirts and swimwear and a couple of pairs of shorts. Back to it tomorrow 😊
Tea is slow cooker chicken casserole using what's at the bottom of my fridge😆
Aiming to have 5 NSDs next week!1 -
NSD Sunday for me....sort of....
Okay, I did spend some money but according to my rules, it doesn't count as Unnecessary Purchase. Let me explain:
Every month my local Eco group has a community event, bringing together all sorts of projects such as Repair Café, Make Do and Mend, Cooking Workshops, environmentally aware gardening advice, Swap Shop, vegan café, energy-saving advice, waste reduction....and lots more!
Today's event focussed on Fashion. Included a talk about the problems associated with Fast Fashion, a fashion show where people were encouraged to show off their homemade, repurposed, repaired or secondhand clothes, followed by various workshops- making a rag rug, darning and mending for beginners and how to dress well without buying new (what to look for at a charity shop, how to customise clothes and how to make them fit better etc)
This was followed by a glorious vegan buffet. I may or may not have had a "monster" portion or shared 4 cakes/ desserts but it would have been rude not to try everything, wouldn't it?! 😆
But the highlight for me was the Clothes Swap. I took along a couple of bags of outgrown clothes which were sorted- men's, women's, children- and was given 2 empty bags to fill later.
After lunch, the Clothes Swap began. Have you ever seen those video clips of Black Friday crowds fighting over a TV? Well, this came close 🤣
It was all very polite but the resentment when someone managed to bag a gorgeous Monsoon sundress or sparkly shoes first was palpable! At the end of the event, there was almost nothing left. Everything had found a new home 😊
I noticed a little lad squealing with delight when he found a load of Spiderman, Batman and superhero T-shirts. All of these were my son's favourites. I'm so happy that another little boy can enjoy them ❤️
I hit the jackpot and came away with a beautiful long black winter frock coat, a few T-shirts for my partner, a couple of wrap dresses (very Kirsty Allsopp!) and a floaty Cotton Trades shirt for my holidays.
The event was entirely free, all they ask for is donations to keep the projects going.
So I considered out how much a vegan lunch would cost in one of the riverside restaurants, plus how much the clothes would have cost in a charity shop and put some money in the bucket.
This is such a valuable community initiative and runs on an absolute shoestring, so I'm going to count this as a Charity Donation on my spreadsheet.2 -
Thank you both WWS (caught) and @cathybird, well done it seems to have worked, I have got a footing again for the first time since the holiday, I am not out of control, I have eaten not necessarily the healthiest food today, but not erratic, all from home and not too much, also I have just prepared a salad to eat with some breaded chicken, Which is not like me (recent me). I am finding after taking actimel the probiotic drink I feel much more satiated generally. Thanks. Outlook: Positive. Although I am remebering I did spend money today as I was advised that some prebiotics from boots may also make an impact and have a general overall positive healthy well being...I am sure tomorrow will be no spend...I am in a better place.
@HotDog2020 if all you spent money on today is the prebiotics, I would count that as meds, and I am pretty sure that no one else doing the challenge would count meds as a spend, so I would like to give you an NSD if that is all you bought today. xx1 -
