We don’t drink a great deal of coffee and bought a Lavazza A Modo Mio machine a few years ago and we buy pods from The Coffee Pod - a mixed box of 50 pods £12.99 plus p&p so that’s around 29p a cup.
We’d previously had a Tassimo but that broke, and have found the Lavazzo a much better machine

I think the idea that the extra pressure created when pressing down on the aeropress affects the extraction has been debunked as the pressure is too low.  The AP is good for experimenting with the parameters like temperature, grind, dose/ brew ratio, dwell time etc, but ultimately it's triumph of marketing over a fundamentally flawed design IMO.  The aerobie guy has now sold it on to an investment co who are milking it for every drop -- getting rid of the included accessories while constantly hiking the price
The designer of the Aeropress has said to do slow since extrapressure often results in channelling and under extraction

A bit off topic but if anyone has connections with Italy their coffee pods were so much better than the ones we get.
You'd think the brands would be the same but reception used to share their expresso with me and when asked they said it was Nespresso to my surprise.
I've noticed on my travels Spain nescaf instant is better too.
So if holidaying it's worth trying out.

Its expensive to move product around the globe and often things are made under licence by local companies.

A really funny example is Coke, in the US they use fructose syrup whereas in Mexico they use cane sugar... people in the US pay a notable premium for the Mexican version.

You'll see the opposite reported with Heinz products, that many UK ex-pats (ie British people who are immigrants to other countries) pay a premium for beans or ketchup being shipped out from the UK as they claim the local varieties are more watery.

Sometimes is even stranger... the Scots will claim IrnBru is the most Scottish non-alcoholic thing you can drink. In the UK there is nothing else similar. But in South America, or at least the Mrs homeland, the second most common soda after cola is identical to IrnBur but made by Coca-Cola. Have even fooled a highly patriotic Scot with it.

What I find funny is going to another country (A) and going to a X country restaurant; eg try going to a Chinese restaurant in England, Spain and Japan. Despite all being "Chinese" they are notably different. You won't find prawn crackers in Chinese in Spain instead you get a bread bun

    Interesting Greyguy.
    Makes a lot of sense.
We're sold a lot of rubbish in this country because we don't value our food and drink.

They're still under patent, unlike the original shape ones, hence why the original shape ones can be bought more cheaply from loads of places. Nespresso brought out the vertuo to offset the revenue loss when the patent expired on the original capsules

Edit: You're probably looking at a decade or so before third party vertuo ones become available.

We don’t have a Nespresso but do buy mixed boxes of 50 pods for our Lavazza a Modo Mio from thecoffeepod.co.uk. May be worth a look

Those aren't filled though, unlike the readily available original shape Nespresso compatible pods.
