Daily Thread 28th Dec 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th Dec. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone.
Another bad night has been had here, ds3 has got the sickness bug!!! So in the past 3 weeks thats all 4 kids that have had it now!!:p
Hes been up several times throughout the night and is now laid out on sofa watching Spongebob!

So that puts a stop to any trip out today, im hoping dh will take the other 3 out for a while, and then i can get some more ebaying done whilst sick one sleeps.
Managed to list 11 items yesterday and im glad i didnt wait until 10p listing day as in the toy catagory its only 5p fee anyway until Dec 31st!:T
Yesterday i paid all my bills, rents paid until 7th Jan and iv paid Jan council tax(never normaly pay it until middle of the month!!) and added a little more to the savings account, feeling quite positive about our finances at the moment, aimming to overpay everything throught next year to clear the debts earlier!:j

Hugs to Kyle,Twink and everyone else thats having a rough time at the minute.
Right off for strong coffee

    Morning dlb & Amie

Another quickie for me here too, and not had chance to read either.

Sorry to hear about the lo's, that bug is not nice, but please keep it I don't want it.
Real good news dlb on the finance front, :j pleased to hear things are improving, and hope things continue to go your way. Our last mortgage payment is 28th Jan. couldn't pay it early as there were penalties if we did.

Amie - had scampi and chips yesterday! Off with the 'van lunch time so what's not going with me is going in the Freezer for March. Only home for 1.5 days before we head for Spain again.:o

Went to friends last night (from my Spanish classes) looks like we might be planning a tour of Italy in 2009 with the 'van :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

As for the tree either I fit in taking it down today (doubtful) or it comes down 1st/2nd, as it will be look a bit silly still up in March:rolleyes:

Got DS packed up and off to GF's so peace now reigns again.

Take care all, and ((hugs)) to those in need of one.

    Hello everyone,

I'm off to work for a while today to build up my flexi time. Sorry to hear ds3 has been poorly dlb, hopefully that's the last of it now.

See you all later, take care.
  • Morning all

Have been up since 4 but didn't know how to put bit on the top of the thread so didn't start it. OH snoring is getting worse and have been awake most of the night anyway. Always like this when I'm writing essays, hope to get it done by New Years Day. I seem to survive on less and less sleep these days. I'm sure it's not good for me but I've got used to it:rolleyes: . I'm sure most shift workers live in a state of permanent sleep deprivation.

DONNA sorry your kids are still poorly. Hugs to anyone else who feels grotty.

Off to work later. OH just gone. MIL looking after DS. Might suggest they go to local play area.

Have to go to the shops later for milk and cat food. Also need to by DS birthday present to give to his friend tomorrow. Need to have a clean round and do some ironing. I usually take my Xmas decs down on New years day night when DS is in bed.

Have a good day everyone :A xxxx

    Morning everyone!

I shall be doing another roast tonite (lamb) as its DS1 birthday tomorrow (23)but he's going away for new year so we shall be having the cake 'n' candles tonite!:D I havent got him anything yet as he wanted a new suit but couldnt get near Next yesterday and there's no sizes online either, so I will probably end up giving him money to get one later.

Not sure what to do today, thinking I should really do a visit to the gym this week, and then try and think of places to take DS2&DD as they are off till Jan 8th as they are getting housebound already!!:rotfl:

and the usual drying & ironing at some point:rolleyes: :rotfl:

    Have a great friday everyone!!!!

    Hi all

sorry to hear your ds has the sickness bug dlb hope he is better soon, ds1 started being sick again yesterday after it had stopped, keeping a close eye on his ketones though, all seems well so far.

now ds2 has woken up struggling with his asthma, why does everything happen all at once?

extra big hugs and cuddles for twink

ds1 just checked his ketones, up again, not high enough that he needs to go to hospital though, they do manage to come down by itself, just the illness putting them up, he still gets his insulin whether he eats or not

    please let 2008 be better:rolleyes:

anyway hugs to all those not well

i am seriously behind on the comps board, missed about 5 days worth now:eek:

    Morning all

Hope you all had a lovely christmas.

Sorry to hear about all the poorly ones - these bugs do seem to be lingering before taking out the whole family don't they?

We had a lovely Christmas day, very quiet and spent the day playing with the girls, had inlaws and parents here boxing day - that went off well too. Yesterday was a pj day and we spent the entire time playing with the Wii or electronic monopoly, it's so nice to have DH off to enjoy the time with us.

Off to the cinema this afternoon to see St Trinians, DD's are looking forward to that, will be eating at home before we go so as not to be tempted into pizza hut.

Got loads of meat left and will portion it out for the freezer later today - got loads of stock frozen down already so really looking forward to soups and stews over the next few weeks.

Not even bothered with the sales this year, there's nothing I need and I won't be buying pressies in advance this year, everyone is getting HM gifts next year - I've got enough fabric and jars/bottles etc to make what I want to make for everyone so I just need to get sewing and fruit picking as and when I can.

Right off for another cuppa - MIL bought us one of these new Tefal kettles which give you a cup of boiling water in 3 seconds - it's great!!! (but I fear far to easy to drink to much tea and coffee!!)

Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning everyone. Took a look at our finances last night! scary!!!
According to figures I'm going to have to forego my savings and the contents of the piggy bank just to get through rest of december, OH car tax due at end of month too!!! and mine is due end of jan 2008!!!
OH works for himself so if he doesn't sell he doesn't earn. Of course everyone stopped buying as it got closer to Christmas coz it's mail order. Let's hope 2008 is much much better.
Hope all who are ill get well soon and all who are well stay that way!!!
(((hugs))) to anyone who needs one. Right better try to make some money. no rest for the wicked!!!

OK, I'm struggling now. I don't know any New Year songs except for this one - thanks Amie :D - and Auld Lang Syne (which can't be used til New Year's Eve)

I started The Great Clearout in the kitchen yesterday. I have rules - only one cupboard per day, then sit down and eat choc :rotfl: I'm itching to take down the cards down and cut them up into gift tags but mr tru has ordered me not to touch them til at least the 2nd Jan :D

I've caught up with the washing, the basket is empty

We're off to town today, I hate town at the best of times and I NEVER EVER go at this time of year - my idea of hell - but miss tru has to choose her frames at the opticians and she needs me there to pay LOL.

Might watch a film later. Transformers was good so maybe I'll watch that again :D
