(Bonus reason to like the Co-operative Bank: Their branch in Islington used to be the The Angel Pub, of Monopoly fame.)

On the plus side the new branch now opens Saturday which is getting rarer2 -
My Monmouthshire Coronation Regular Saver is about to end. They sent me a form to complete to tell them where they should transfer the closing balance. The problem was they wanted an original bank statement. Virtually all my bank accounts are paperless EXCEPT the Co-Op. So, I just sent them last month's Co-Op paper statement. Sometimes paper statements can be so very, very useful......don't under estimate them !3

Love the standard replies.
The title was another reason for me to hate them, it was partly tongue in cheek or whatever, anyways:
I'm not going to leave a bank when they have 1 good thing going for me.
It took me longer than needed for me to find the right section/option to opt out of paper statements.
I initially went into app settings, notifications etc before going into the current account selecting statements etc.
Also I read something like statements only show a certain number of transactions, there's very few on the statement.
Also you can't read paper statements via app so guessing I need to keep the 1 I have now.
For someone so used to paperless & clearly someone who was interested in using online/mobile banking (I use the app since registering) I can't get my head around why their default is paper statements.
Is it ethical or whatever to produce paper by default?.
Was never prompted to turn it off, had to find out for myself.
Think the only other bank that sends me paper statements is Virgin for an old account before Clydesdale took over, everything else is digital.
Yes banks send promo emails, generally don't have an issue with them, in a thread I saw before replies to this someone said they upgraded their account and their savings rate went down so that sounds great that co op seems to do that huh?.
Do Co Op normally send emails about upgrading an account when you've only been with them about a month or something?, have they seen something that suggests I suddenly need to spend £15 or whatever a month on having insurance etc?.
Found the timing stupid, cheeky etc.
The impression I get from the very short time I've been with them is mainly old fashioned &/or can't cope, can't even speak to applications/savings when you call up, every other "bank" I can it's like speak to someone who will send an email to a team then may or may not tell you anything then you ring up another day asking about the same thing, as a customer that's not good.
I already bank/save elsewhere, it's obvious if you are on the forums enough, but basically I'm with all the main banks/building societies etc.
I like Monopoly games.
Hopefully I've covered everything in this reply.1 -
Perhaps, next time you post a thread like this, you might consider the rant board:

It would be more at home there.4 -

when I need a paper statement, I produce a certified one in my Starling app and print it

I thought banks didn't do these unless you opt in/don't register for app etc.
Just had to opt out via app.Life in the slow lane1 -

Do they? In which case, 99% of the many banks and Building Societies I have accounts with fail to comply. I am quite happy with that 'failure', as it would be a huge waste of resources (paper, ink, distribution and postage, human resource) if they did comply.

But there are people, I'm one of them, who.....don't use apps and don't have a printer so a paper statement comes in very handy sometimes.
