Paper statements.
Had one today.
I thought banks didn't do these unless you opt in/don't register for app etc.
Just had to opt out via app.

The other day CO Operative Bank sent me an email about upgrading my Current Account, no thanks, the Regular Savings account is the only account I want nothing else tbh, lit taking the p0

And that's really enough for you to complain 🙄jameseonline said:Paper statements.

You have the option of banking elsewhere, the banking sector isn't a monopoly.jameseonline said:Paper statements.

And some forumites look for a bank that provides printed statements!11 -
I'm struggling to see what the issue is here. Co-op send paper statements by default, you can opt out of paper statements if you wish and they will provide you with pdf statements from now on instead. Job done so far as I'm concerned.jameseonline said:Paper statements.

No, some automatically send out paper statements. I opted for paperless statements from Co-op quite a while back and haven't had a paper statement since though.jameseonline said:I thought banks didn't do these unless you opt in/don't register for app etc.
I'd hardly call it ``taking the p". Don't most banks send these sorts of messages from time to time? I seem to recall Nationwide, Halifax, NatWest etc have sent me messages about their student account before, Lloyds used to send me messages about personal wealth management, Santander went on about their new Edge account, HSBC has sent me emails about investing, Virgin has gone on about their exclusive savings accounts, the list goes on. I just delete the email if I'm not interested and forget about it.jameseonline said:The other day CO Operative Bank sent me an email about upgrading my Current Account, no thanks, the Regular Savings account is the only account I want nothing else tbh, lit taking the p6 -
If you hate them so much then just change to another bank. It's hardly a reason to hate them though, it cost you nothing and took you 10 seconds to change.6

Well you clearly thought wrong! Each bank is different - and long may that remain the case (it would be dreadful if they all did things exactly the same as then there'd be nothing to choose from). An odd reason to hate them though!jameseonline said:Paper statements.

You've obviously only been with them a short time, as you've just had your first statement. But already perhaps it's time you left them and find a new bank to grumble about.6 -
I wouldn’t say that this is a reason to hate the bank alone; statements can be switched to online when logging into online banking via the main website. You can then access these statements via online banking or the mobile app, and I always get an email when a statement has been issued. However, I still agree Co-operative Bank isn’t great: long hold times, lacklustre mobile app and not so rewarding products. There’s better options out there to consider if you’re getting annoyed, including the opportunity for switching cash. I just use them for when they start switching offers now.0

Paper statements can be very useful to prove your address.
(Bonus reason to like the Co-operative Bank: Their branch in Islington used to be the The Angel Pub, of Monopoly fame.)The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.5 -
Are you sure that the statement you received isn't an annual one that they are obliged to send by post?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I don't get (or want) annual statements by Post for 99% of my accounts. I don't believe there is an obligation on banks or Building Societies to do that.
