Glad to hear you had a lovely weekend, you deserve it, and every now and again we all need to splurge on something, and this benefitted both of you so it's totally justified.

I'm having a pretty good day today. I've managed to have an NSD and been pretty productive with it.
BF is away out with the wicked witch so I got up and did some homework :T :T :T then went outside to do some gardening. I've badly neglected it over the last year so it was looking pretty awful. I've given it a general tidy up and started chopping things down and doing some weeding. I always feel at peace with things when I'm gardening so I should make the effort to do it more often. The problem with that though is that I'm always desperate to go to a garden centre and spend lots and lots of money. Oh well, at least the fresh air and exercise are good for me, if not the spending.
I'm away to have a bath now (why do I always end up looking like I've been playing in the mud) then I'll probably do a bit more homework.
It's back to uni tomorrow afternoon and I'll be trying really hard not to spend much - but I really need an exclusion zone around the vending machines.Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on

Bf bought himself a car this weekend so it's his turn to drive me about and use all his petrol:rotfl: . Only thing is that he is now totally skint so muggins here had paid for all the petrol so far:o .
I went back to getting the bus to uni today - what a nightmare it was. None of the buses seemed to meet up when I needed them so I spent about forty minutes sitting in a very cold and windy bus station on the way home. Total travelling time today: approx 4 hours. If the buses are playing nice it should only take about an hour each way so fingers crossed for tomorrow. On the plus side is that, now I've got my bus pass, that's my travelling expenses covered for the next 12 weeks.
I've spent the entire night doing uni homework then searching for car insurance:mad: . Trying to find a comprehensive policy that allows you to drive other cars. Noneof the bloomin' web sites will tell you if it's included or not. Anyway, I'm insured now and I'll just have to hope it gives me the cover I need.Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on

I think that you need to be a named driver on the policy of the registered keeper to get fuuly comprehensive cover but a lot of policies will insure you for third party fire and theft on your own policy for other cars that are not yours if that makes any sense but you need to call them up and ensure that they have specifically included this in your policy for this to be valid but I might be wrong.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0

I'm in a major quandary here. Those of you who have read this thread up until now will know that I've been having some bother with BFs sister.
She has been here tonight and is in a bit of a mess. She has spoken to her ex (the father of her child - tough birth, child seems to have cerebal palsey) but, although he says he loves her, he doesn'twant to have anything to do with her and wants to move away and start again.
BFs sister has been a cow to me in the recent past but seeing her in such a state has been really difficult. I just want to help her and be there for her even though she kicked me in the teeth last time. What do I do? Any advice welcome.Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on

Do what comes natural to you. If she turns around and kicks you in the teeth again then 'try' and look at it as 'her problem, her with the issue' and have peace in the fact that you reacted in your way and its up to 'her' how she receives it. Hope that makes sense... I know what I mean
Good luck

Make no commitments and keep your "own space". You can be there for her, but if she acts up, then just stand up and walk away.
Her attitude has come home to roost."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Hi all, I've been feeling the financial pinch a bit recently so I've found a new job. It's only working as required and as long as it suits me so it should fit in around uni ok. It's a childcare at home thing so I'll get more experience working with kids too. I need to try and put some money aside to tide me over the summer holidays when I don't get any loan payment but once that's done I'll be throwing every spare penny at my debts as they are really getting me down just now.
Money has been so tight over the last month that I've had to spend on one of my credit cards, something I haven't done for months so I'm really disappointed with myself.
Update on the wicked witch's baby: she's having a really tough time of it. She has cerebral palsy and seems to be deaf and has very little sight. Poor little thing, it's such a shame that it has all worked out like this. Shedoesn't seem to be getting much specialist help either and what help and advice her mum is getting always seems to be conflicting.
As for my relationship with her mother, I keep my distance as much as possible but am there if really needed. It's not in my nature to turn my back on someone when they need help but I'm trying not to get too involved so that I can protect myself to some extent.

It'smy neice's birthday today and, although I've already bought her presents (phew) I'm picking her up from school at lunchtime and taking her for lunch. I know I probably wont be able to resist spending moremoney on her but some people are worth it!
I think lunch with a 9 year old is just what I need to cheer me up a bit.Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on

Lunch with my neice was lovely and only cost me the price of a sausage roll, an empire biscuit and some juice. Bargain! and the company was lovely.
BF and I have just been out for dinner (me paying?!?) but all in all I've had a pretty good day. Money saving starts again tomorrow.Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on
