How do I do the signature at the end?

Do I write my name or do I have to print?

Any document submitted electronically only need be signed by typing your full name in the signature box. If you are unsure how to add a facsimile of your real signature, then just simply type your full name. End of.

    Thank you.

Is there anything else I need to do other than this defence at this moment?

There is a 12-point checklist in the first post of the Template Defence thread that guides you through the process from submitting your defence onwards.

Another option is a digital signature, sign a blank white piece of paper in black ink, scan it or take a picture, embed or add it into your document and then publish it as a saved PDF file, for attaching to the email to the CNBC

Although typing it may suffice ( or do both. )

Solicitor firms do it all the time, I scanned a relative's signature for her on my all in one printer, which was submitted to her employer

    No. Typing it does suffice.

Electronic Communications Act 2000: This Act provides the legal basis for the use of electronic signatures. It doesn't strictly define what constitutes an electronic signature, but it is interpreted broadly to include any electronic method that indicates a person's intention to sign a document, which can include typing a name.

The Electronic Identification and Trust Services for Electronic Transactions Regulations 2016 (eIDAS Regulation): This regulation specifies different levels of electronic signatures (simple electronic signatures, advanced electronic signatures, and qualified electronic signatures). A simple electronic signature can indeed be as basic as a typed name, provided it meets the requirement of indicating the signer's intent.

Practice Direction 5B of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR): This Practice Direction explicitly states that an electronic signature is acceptable if it is an electronic form of signature intended to authenticate the document. This includes a typed name.

Law Commission Report on Electronic Execution of Documents (2019): The report clarifies that electronic signatures can take various forms, including typing a name at the end of an email, clicking an “I accept” button on a website, or using a stylus or finger to sign on a touchscreen. The crucial element is the intention to authenticate the document.
