Out of curiosity, what happens if your photo is not accepted? Are you given the opportunity to upload a new one, or is the application cancelled?
You upload a new one, it's all automated by email and text, took me less than 5 minutes to take and upload a new photo

They are so used to it it's right first time and cost a £1 more than a booth.

    Joking apart... you probably do.

The whole "no editing" thing is silly because take the identical photo with a 30mm lens and a 90mm lens (being further away to compensate) will look different and thats before you consider the characteristics of the film or sensor.  Can understand them not wanting you to edit out moles etc but the statements are a bit silly in my opinion.

There is a reason why professional photographers use a mid length lens then a shorter one and be closer, because it is more flattering.

The photo examples shown on the website, show people like this.

As opposed to what I would consider a more traditional 'full face' passport photo.
So anyway I took some pictures like the above ( taken by a smartphone against a plain wall by somebody else)
and they were rejected by the website. So took a more full face one with no shoulders showing and it passed.....

I had mine taken in Morrisons with a code to upload them during the application process. They were not accepted so I asked a work colleague to take one against a light grey wall, that was accepted

You can edit the photo. You just can’t filter it.  It should be a true likeness not some perfected image that looks nothing like you.  😊
