HMRC return 23/24

Probably not any more than in previous years just that more people are resorting to forums to complain meaning more publicity about it.Hephaestus123 said:I have seen many people in this same situation. What is happening as this has been extremely stressful.
Differing information on returns against what has been reported to HMRC has always happened.2 -
Exactly the same situation for me, identical.Hephaestus123 said:My repayment had been removed and figures recalculated showing i now owed HMRC. I contacted HMRC to be told a letter was sent. The letter specified that my CIS deductions did not match what they had on file, with a copy of payments made to CIS. This specified that my contractor had only made a very small percentage of payments to CIS which was incorrect as i had proof of CIS statements and confirmation of payments from my contractors accountant. The letter asked if i agreed with the amendment or to send proof of CIS statements. I sent a covering letter with CIS statements of proof and now my tax account has now reversed to its previous calculation with repayment pending.

No it was just a small carpentry company. I have spoken with HMRC today in a webchat and apparently my repayment will be made in 10 working days.PENDINGHMRC said:

and i waited the 10 working days, had to send a follow up email asking why its still pending after waiting 11 working days, I got a reply saying it went back into security checks which it shouldnt have since the issue was dealt with and I should be getting the return imminently.0 -
Tbf when they said i should have my repayment in 10 working days the idea of more security checks came to mind. There seems to be a huge issue with the CIS department. Did you ever receive a letter after sending CIS statements.PENDINGHMRC said:

It seems absurd that they would recalculate figures for a repayment and then send back for security checks. Do you know of anyone that has received a repayment after sending proof of CIS deduction's.0

Probably different processes.Hephaestus123 said:It seems absurd that they would recalculate figures for a repayment and then send back for security checks. Do you know of anyone that has received a repayment after sending proof of CIS deduction's.
1. Checking your tax return matches the info they have
2. Security checks to make a payment0 -
Surely once security checks have been completed it would not need another security check.gt94sss2 said:

The security check is not about the information on the return.Hephaestus123 said:

It is to check that the repayment is being sent to the correct person and not someone else.
Two separate processes done by different sections.A security check on a repayment cannot be done until the repayment is finalised.2 -
