31st June? That’ll be interesting!Archie492 said:I bit the bullet and contacted via online chat. I was told my refund is sat with the specialist team and can expect a reply by 31st June. It will either get issued in that time or recieve a letter asking for more information.0 -
It actually puts me off being self employed. Especially if this is something we will all be subject to on a yearly basis.Archie492 said:
I'm seeing so many annoyed people this year waiting and getting mixed responses.Hephaestus123 said:
I also contacted them today through the webchat. The agent sent a chaser and told me to get back in contact if I hadn't heard anything in 14 days. Seems everyone is still receiving mixed replies.Archie492 said:I bit the bullet and contacted via online chat. Ha, yes it would. Wish I was quick thinking when I was told that date and took a screenshot.[Deleted User] said:

I had my letter explaining the correction (fair enough) tried phoning the number on the letter last week it was just voicemail, phoned the number today (direct number, no waiting around)
he told me my corrected sum is just waiting to be issued (not in for security checks etc)0 -

I earn ~£53k and in the financial year 2022-23 I had to fill in a self-assessment tax form as I received a very large bonus (>£12k) from work which took me over the 20% threshold despite my pension contributions. For the financial year just ended 2023-24, I increased my pension contributions and didn't receive a large bonus, so I am well under the higher rate threshold. Do I still need to complete a self-assessment form or is this no longer required? I don't have any other income to declare as all savings are in ISA's

Have you been issued with a notice to file a return?Tonski said:I earn ~£53k and in the financial year 2022-23 I had to fill in a self-assessment tax form as I received a very large bonus (>£12k) from work which took me over the 20% threshold despite my pension contributions. Also, being a higher rate payer is not a reason to need to complete a tax return. What was the real reason? HICBC?0 -
If HMRC issue you with a Notice to file/tax return, you should fill it in - even if you think no tax is due - as you will otherwise be fined.Tonski said:I earn ~£53k and in the financial year 2022-23 I had to fill in a self-assessment tax form as I received a very large bonus (>£12k) from work which took me over the 20% threshold despite my pension contributions. If you haven't been asked to fill in a tax return, have a look at https://www.gov.uk/check-if-you-need-tax-return0 -
I was issued with a notice to file in 2022-23 but not for 2023-24 so far. Yes, I received Child benefit allowance and had to pay back a portion of this for the 2022-23 financial year.Dazed_and_C0nfused said:
