Still pending. I got told today that if you're given a date by phone or online advisor on when the refund will be processed then don't phone in before as you're only going be given the same information. Date given is a hard date and nothing can be updated or escalated before that date.0

Submitted return on the 6th, confirmed and tax credits released on the 8th april 2024, Requested bank refund on the 8th April 2024, states 10 working days. its now 15th may 2024. All previous years I got the bank repayment issued on the 19th April 2024. within the 10 working days. this year however... they want to make me wait. its not just me a firm of 50 lads sub contractors self employed, only one person out of us all has been given the refund. again no idea why as it was above 3k so these "security checks" are more for the understaffing issue. guarantee thats the issue. not enough people to check the claims if theyre being flagged for additional security checks, which every year they must check the self assesments? even then just pay me back the money im OWED! and if theres a problem im sure they will let you know asap and demand settlement asap or face going to jail, fines etc.
what about my financial loses? I use this money to invest every year, ive missed out on thousands.
personally think we should be able to put in a claim if it takes longer than the 10 working days.
I called a few week back told to wait til end of may 2024. if not in by then it may be a further 10-12 weeks. so August/September.

Some have made errors in their rush to submit and this, together with persistent calling (not you!) only adds to the delay.0 -
You may have seen that HMRC have been given an extra £51m to help with their service levels and a report by the National Audit Office.
Reading some of the media coverage it includes:the NAO’s report found that many of calls to the helpline could have been avoided and were in fact caused by HMRC’s own failings.
Of the 38 million calls received by the tax office, an estimated 72pc – or 27 million – were the result of “failure demand”.
This means taxpayers were calling because of HMRC’s errors or their own, or because they were chasing an update on their case.
