Hi @Brambling and everyone
Posting my first weeks loss as 10 lbs (yes - ten).Pretty unbelievable to be honest. Several points to note.- I have a lot of weight to lose (more than 100lbs). I am 5ft 11 and have been overweight since I was a teenage girl really.I am a veteran of amazing first weeks at SW, WW and anywhere else you care to mention. What I am not good at is good last weeks and getting to a sustainable maintenance weight.- What I am trying to do is set up a process that is sustainable and consistent for me and which works with my lifestyle. I have chosen calorie counting as I definitely need a framework and in the end SW syns and WW points are just versions of this that don’t align with any food packaging. I am using Nutra Check which I find easy to use and good value.- I have chosen not to join any kind of group as ultimately it took me many years to appreciate that the group mentality didn’t help me. This is only my very personal view as I know they work well for many people, but I found the over congratulation for success and the (I felt) criticism for a gain - what did I do wrong this week - wasn’t what I needed. Posting on here will be helpful and I like seeing everyone’s progress and thoughts.- I was my heaviest ever when I weighed last week so this first week is a response to just some very basic improvements. If I keep that off next week or even lose a lb I’ll be very pleased.I am broadly aiming for 5 -8 lbs a month which is 1-2 lbs a week but I’m in it for the long haul so any loss is good. It’s hard to lose the mentality of treating a 1 lb loss as pointless when you have over 100 to lose but I’m working on it.- we are vegetarian and did a really good meal plan that we stuck to mostly. I am trying to put more calories into meals I really enjoy and lose my tendency to eat absolute rubbish (chocolate, crisps etc). I am good at eating lots of fruit and veg but this gets crowded out if I hit the rubbish eating.I’m not much of a drinker - very occasional. So all my calories are on food the majority of the time.
- my “why” is 100% related to health. I am really feeling the weight in my late fifties. I do not have any weight related medical issues (yet) but definitely have poorer mobility and I limit myself as a consequence. And the health issues are heading my way if I stay this weight.-Mr L is very supportive and is the cook in the house so happy to come along on the journey. He wants to lose about 20lbs. That is a great help especially in the beginning.Apologies for such a long post. It won’t be like this every week 😁. I hope everyone achieves their goals - whatever they are. We are all different and I profoundly hope I am still posting at the end of this quarter and many quarters to come as I chip away at this pound by pound, as that really will be life- changing for me.L xx11 -
A STS for me this week, pretty frustrated (not the ACTUAL term I'm thinking of tbh!) as I ate less and exercised more than last week........ah well!
I did weigh in during the week and as expected halfway through the week I'm up so the key is to minimise what I gain (and ideally NOT gain) the next couple of days.
Also planning on writing everything down food wise, if it makes for uncomfortable reading so be it, I need to see it.
Some great losses from others though, well done!5 -
Wow Less_talk that's a amazing first week
I hope you have measured yourself at the start of the challenge as you should start to see those inches go especially good when the scales stick on a number
Jenny your husband is correct you need to be kind to yourself you have been illback to baby steps for you
Brie great job in dropping those holiday lbs already
Well done every one else who braved the scales whether it was good, bad or ugly!
I'm fighting the evils of bread this week and can feel every slice hovering around my waist today I must stop. I was going to make a loaf today as I have to be at home as I'm working today but decided that would be such a bad idea, as Saturday working and fresh bread and butter would be a no no especially as we are not due to finish until 8.30pm
I hope everyone has a good weekend and you are able to enjoy the sun, this is my last Saturday working before i retire as i have refused to work the one in MayLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin8 -

That’s such a good reminder re the measurements @Brambling. I never do that and it would help to keep it all ticking along. I’m going to do that today and maybe update once a month. I have pictures……
I know this weeks loss is just a reflection of planning my food this last week vs what I was eating previously, but it has given me a good kick start and I have a plan in place for next week. 2 nights away with work is the big challenge. I have a tentative plan and we will see how it goes. This is a frequent thing so it needs a plan that works.
I have also just read through all of Q1 for this thread. What impresses me most is not the losses (although they are great) but the consistency and the value of adding up small losses. Both things I am working on so thank you all for the inspiration.
Have a good week everyone.L x6 -

Happy birthday when it arrives.
Mine is today, weigh-in tomorrow.
Was a 1lb loss as of this morning but significantly over-indulged today.4
