Thanks @laura_lau I most definitely am determined! But not rushing things.
Today my train decided to delay itself by 30 minutes after we'd already set off, nothing I could do about it so just sat and twiddled my thumbs. Will make sure I do a delay repay once my oyster has updated with my journey history.
Not much else to report today, nothing MSE achieved as busy with work but did finish early.9 -
@Thrifty_Taylor had to laugh at your DS and his GF showing up just after you had made choc chip buns. Amazing how they manage to do this, isn't it? Some sort of extra sensory thing going on - my children are grown up with families of their own now, but they still manage to do it, as does the next generation....Work today so NSD #6 I think.Had some difficult news re my youngest brother while at work. He has had a bereavement. Couldn't speak for long with a shop full of customers, but rang him once I got home. He doesn't live locally, but I may need to help him out with some practical things over the coming weeksAlso rang my other brother, the one currently having chemotherapy, as he seemed very tired yesterday when OH went to take him to his hospital appointment. He is feeling better today. Maybe it was to do with Monday's chemo. Sigh!Anyway, grateful for a pleasant sunny day today! And OH cooked a roast chicken dinner12

I had a major lie in this morning, until almost 10 o'clock! I'd planned to lie in, but hadn't expected it to be for that long. I'd been up at 5.42 as Pip had had a nightmare and I'd stayed in his room with him for about an hour - he'd gone back to sleep quite quickly but, unsurprisingly, I was unable to do more than doze on the floor. So once I was totally sure he was asleep, I came back to my own comfy bed.Today I am grateful for being able to have such a huge lie in, for my home made carrot and coriander soup, for Pip having a good couple of hours with a friend, for the friend's mum loitering for a bit for a chat, for starting a new jigsaw.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!11

Hi everyone, sorry I've not posted much recently. Been feeling a bit low but have enjoyed following your posts.
Took Mum (85) to do a new will as she was worrying about it. She burned the old one after our dad died. The solicitor was very good. I asked Mum if she's telling the grandkids that she's leaving them something but she said "no, when i die let it be a nice surprise!" I don't think she realises how unintentionally funny she is.
My car tyre keeps going down so I went to pump it up at the garage last night. The pump wouldn't connect properly and the tyre air came out so fast the pressure went down to 7 psi! I thought I'd have to ring for help but got it to work. It was pouring by then so i was well fed up but relieved.
Had the date through for a small op on my finger under local anaesthetic. Can't believe this is from a shard of glass fibre going into my finger last November. It's bled on and off since then despite being cauterised 3 times. Not looking forward to the op but be so glad when they've fixed it.
My mum and my great nephew (3) were watching Fireman Sam on tv. She asked him if he wanted to be a fireman when he grows up but he said no, he wants to be a chef!
Think I'm on NSD#2. Grateful for a lovely sunny day, an op date, OH feeling a bit better, 1 more work day before a few days at the seaside.
Sending hugs to everyone that needs them. X10 -
A better day. A little bit of hope, a bit more purpose and direction (I have a mostly clean bathroom sink and cleared the floor and shelves of rubbish). Read the first part of 'Atomic Habits' (goals can be counter productive, systems are better - small habits repeated often which may not make a difference at first, so just keep going, trying to improve things by 1%).
Grateful for all my reading, lots of rest, re-watching an old series, eating food from my bag (the remaining grapes had fallen to the bottom and were getting squashed).11 -
oooh I'm reading "Atomic Habits" too @grandmanerd. I've tried the habit stacking idea and it seems to be working for me. .....
I need to properly catch up but just popping on to say thanks to @f0xh0les (I think it was you) for the lentil soup recipe, I've made it twice now and it's great!

Think I'm on NSD No 8
We had a little bit of bad news yesterday. My late cousin's husband passed away. I always tried to keep in touch because he had very few relatives of his own and Himself and I would book into a hotel and spend a few days with him now and again as he lived on the other side of the country. Sadly his health issues and mine had made it impossible recently. But we did our best and have many happy memories.
Good news, The Boy has had a very good cash offer for his flat.
So, Himself and I are pottering along trying to do little bits and pieces. Washing all done and hanging up to dry. Fridge all cleaned and tidied. Doesn't sound like much, I know but everything seems like a huge effort at the moment. I take my inspiration from Grandmanerd. I seriously do not know how she manages to accomplish so much, stay positive and take on more and more. You're a hero!!!!
So, omelettes for dinner, Strangely eggs taste ok. Well they can't do my any harm and will probably do a lot of good.
Take care and have a good weekend. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.12 -
Omelettes are healthy and nutritious @Toni'sfriend . Sorry to hear your bad news. There seems to be a lot of it about at the momentWork again today, and I was pleased to get home. It is a nice sunny day outside but it was chilly in our old shop.Dog was groomed today, so he is nice and tidy. Looks very cute
So not a NSD, as I had to leave the money for the groomer (OH took him).
Load of washing pegged out before work, and I have just got it in totally dry, folded and put awayJust watered the seedlings in the greenhouse. Some of the indoor ones will need potting on over the weekend.OH is doing dinner as I have been at work. Only cold chicken and salad with a jacket potato between us, so not much actual cooking needed.Must phone both my brothers after dinner.Grateful today for some tiny tulips that have appeared in the garden pots, a couple of decent sales of my items at work, and a longed for sunny day!12 -
Today I am grateful for playing badminton with Pip -outside with a crosswind 🤣, our best rally was 10. Once. Also for my gym session, for dh coming home earlier than we all expected, for lovely warm sunshine, for the apple tree blossoming -I think it's several weeks earlier than usual...

Afternoon allBeautiful day today - it is amazing how decent weather cheers everyone up after all the rain and wind, isn't it.So far today I have made a blueberry and yogurt cake (I had blueberries in this week's L*dl £1.50 box, and they needed using). DD and the little ones came round, just back from a windy caravan holiday at the coast, so there is now about half of it leftI also harvested, chopped and cooked a big bunch of rhubarb, now in tubs ready to go in the freezer. And I cut and washed some salad cress that has been growing by the dining room window. Now in a plastic bag in the fridge.Prepped a large melon that was also in the veg box. It is very ripe, but nothing else wrong with it. Now chopped up in the fridge for snacking.Potted some carnation and coriander seedlings, and sowed some more basil as not many have come up. I always grow lots of basil and freeze it as pesto. One of the spring onion troughs is looking very sparse so I will need to sow some more seeds in there I think.GD and GS played with the clay that I had bought to keep them occupied. GD made a mushroom, and GS a small pot. I had to google how to bake the items in the oven. Now done - I hope! The mushroom didn't stay upright, so it is a sideways mushroom. Not sure how that will go down!Phoned my brother whose partner has died. Understandably he is very upset. They had been together for quite a long time. Haven't phoned my other brother (who has cancer) yet, but must do this afternoon, to see if he needs anything this weekend.7
