Trying to see if I could eat some sea bass and vegetables for dinner tonight. Fingers crossed. Couldn't eat my porridge this morning. It tasted disgusting. I do hope this goes away soon. xxxxPoor you @Toni'sfriend ! When DH was trying to regain some modicum of food flavour after covid, the only way he could get through it was to try everything as if he had never had it before. Every meal kind of became a taste safari, knowing which things tasted 'right', and which tasted like the smell of slurry and hot metal.Try not to get upset if it tastes wrong, you just move on to something else. It will come back, it is just that at this moment in time, it is 'not for you'. You might find your new favourite thing.Treat it like being pregnant again

Had some accidental savings yesterday, I had intended to transfer 19p just to round up my emergency fund as it annoys me when it is all odds and ends, but I accidentally transferred £19
it's staying there now.
Today has been an incredibly spendy and frustrating work day. Started by going to the gym, my ankle is very sore as had to walk loads yesterday so total focus on other areas today! Then went to the dentist to pick up my new, much needed retainers. I knew it would cost £300 but it's still sad having to actually shell out the money. I got three sets which the dentist said should last six years so although it's a big amount to pay out I hopefully shouldn't need any more for a very long time! Used my credit card so need to transfer some money to clear it.
Worked from home trying to resolve a problem where we've just been going round in circles for the best part of 18 months. I am getting very close to feeling I may need to whistle-blow but even though I know it may be the right thing to do I am very worried about the potential personal consequences. On the plus side I spent some time applying for a job, I am going to actively look elsewhere now and hope to get out soon. I really like my job and it's location but things are becoming untenable sadly.
Wind and rain has set in so I'm going to have a nice bath and then chill for the evening.11 -
I hope you can eat some dinner @Toni'sfriendNSD # 5 for me today, I think.OH has kindly taken my brother for his scan this afternoon to give me a break, so I have been making myself useful. I cut down and composted a sorrel that was reaching for the sky and going to seed this morning. It will now produce more nice leaves for salad, I hope. Also spaced out some lettuce seedlings in plastic tubs that mushrooms came in. They already have helpful drainage holes. Then made a lemon drizzle cake, of which I will freeze half, and a blackberry cobbler using berries (mostly blackberries, but a few others) from the freezer. That will do for puddings for a few days. Had a quick look to see what fruit is left in the freezer, and I was pleased to see that there are only a couple of bags of berries left. Also found a surprise plum crumble, which I left in there, but mustn't forget. I must freeze some of the rhubarb, which is going mad, but not today, as it is windy and rainy outside againDid a recce of the fridge, and made sad veg into a) coleslaw base (the chopped up veg can have mayo or other dressing added as needed, keeps better that way_ and b) carrot and swede mash.I wish I liked housework as much as I like cooking and gardening!I liked the man who came to quote for the new bathroom yesterday, so fingers crossed the quote is reasonable. Although I don't really know what is or is not reasonable. What I do know from past experience is that it is best to engage tradespeople that I trust. No repeat of the kitchen cowboys thanks!Grateful today for my husband's support, and for getting things done.

Oh, F0xh0les, that made me laugh because the Lovely Cousin had just said the same thing about being pregnant. Actually a few of my difficulties at the moment have a hormone related element to them so there just might be a wee bit of truth in there somewhere. Also I've been given massive amounts of antibiotics which could be at the root of the problem. So it is just a bit of trial and error. Sure we'll get there in the end. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.10

I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy11 -

F0xh0les - One of the things that I can eat and enjoy at the moment is yoghourt, fresh fruit and a squeeze of honey. The sea bass and veg were ok. Not as nice as I usually find but I finished it. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11

Today I am grateful for finding blackberries in liddle (on pip's list of foods to try, so to heck with the airmiles they've accumulated. Pip'll have to speak to them in Spanish cos they're from Guatemala!), fora neighbour cutting all of our little front lawns, for my tutoring going well and the roadworks being finished when I drove back so there was no queuing traffic, for cooking a mean roast-in-the-bag herby chicken for tea!

Sorry to hear about your noisy neighbours, @f0xh0les, they must be jealous of/inspired by all the renovating going on at your house, & feel they need to keep up with the neighbours! Hopefully they'll finish soon 🤞
Good to hear from you @grandmanerd, keep plodding on. The good days will increase soon, I'm sure.
I've had a good day. Just before I left the house, I received a phonecall from UC. Now got to go into town for an appointment to verify who I am! Received emails with other dates, one for this afternoon in Shetland!! Wrong set of islands, no way I could get there in 20mins! And another for Monday when I'll be at work...
Anyway, after that call & another from a friend to arrange a walk tomorrow, me & DH set off with the car load for the dump. It was very busy there, so had to weave between all the cars)folk standing chatting to put stuff in the skips!
We then drove up the road & walked up a famous local landmark, large hill overlooking the harbour. Took photos of the memory bears, then walked another 5 miles. Headed home for lunch & some tidying.
A lovely lady came to collect her bears. It was very moving, she spoke to them & shed a tear or two. I'd made her 4, & she ordered another one for her daughter.
Quickly whipped up some buns, using up a half packet of chocolate chips I found in a box. DS3 & his GF arrived, great to see them!
Another customer came to collect some sewing & drop another thing off.
After tea, I spotted a hardly used mattress on a local FB page, so collecting that tomorrow night. Had noticed how uncomfortable DS3's mattress was when changing his bedding, so good timing! Did some knitting & watched TV.
Grateful for work besties inviting me to join them (but couldn't go, as I was still out walking with DH), the joy of the lady receiving her bears, walking in a different place for a change, having all my boys home againUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Hello turtles, good to read some positive news in the last few days, and hugs all who need one. @lcc86 love the idea of the "accidental" saving, made me smile. Also, best of luck with your job search, you sound determined now, so you are already in the right direction!
Today is my NSD #5, catching up and getting back on track after a fairly spendy second half of March and beginning of April. I have some urgent things to finish for work today, and then I want to make a little plan for the next couple of weeks. I have taken off the first 10 days of May to go and see my family and I want to get a few things done before I go.
I saw the results of my blood test, and all values are ok, but the platelets are still raised, although they have gone down since I did the first test 4 weeks ago. There were no notes from the doctor, and I haven't been contacted by the practice, so I'm not exactly sure if I'm supposed to call them or wait that they contact me? I'll give them a few more days, I suppose.
Last night I went line dancing and it was really nice, I really want to take some time this weekend to practice some of the more difficult routines, as I'd really like to dance those ones too, instead of just watching.
Started a new book this morning, it's the next book on the list of my book club, last meeting was cancelled because most people were sick so we skipped discussing March book, and I'm still so disappointed, as I really enjoyed it and really wanted to discuss a few things with the group! I really hope we can spare some time at next meeting to discuss the March book, as well as April's.
Grateful for enjoying my line dancing, the excitement of starting a new book, and for the weather being a bit warmer today (although still not sunny),
