renault megane electrical problems..

For me it was the cigarette lighter fuse. Such a simple job to fix! There was even a spare one there!Bump due 22nd September0
-
Vehicle - 2005, right-hand drive, Renault M!gane tourer.
Symptoms - Front and rear windscreen washes not working. No power to cigarette lighter socket. Radio switches off after about 20 minutes and/or remains on when getting out of vehicle.
Problem – One 15A fuse blown.
Solution – Open glove box and fuse box cover on upper left-hand side. There should be a small orange plastic fuse extractor tweezers on a spigot amongst the fuses, spare fuses and a schematic layout diagram on the inside cover. Referring to the diagram and using the tweezers replace the small blue 15A fuse that corresponds to a pictogram of a car radio.
N.B. The tweezers and spare fuses come supplied with the vehicle from new but may not be present on older vehicles. The fuse layout diagram bears no obvious resemblance to what components this fuse covers.

Hi guys, just looking for some advice,
Last night I shorted the fuse for my cigarette lighter and then the radio didnt turn off when I opened the drivers door as it should do when i turn off the engine. A lovely man at Halfords has just replaced the fuse and I thought "top bannana's it's all working okay" I drove about 2 miles and then the car made a beep sound, the Service light came on and it said Electrical Fault? The radio is working fine as it should do now and the cigarette lighter has power going to it but I cant get rid of the warning??
I dont really want to have to take the car to Renault as that will cost me a fortune and the electrical people say it's £20 for them to look at the car?
Any idea's/ help would be gratefully accepted.0 -

its best to do you own thread instead of thread reviving something from 2008 because those who followed the thread will get PM reminders.
all that said.
if the service light is on, with electrical fault you should really have a fault code read done.
perhaps your car is due a service, but you didnt notice the service trip computer was counting down and now has hit zero and hence the service light electrical fault maybe another factor that happened to come along with the service light.
trouble with renault somethings are easy to read with an expensive fault code reader or even you basic handheld autel reader, and some codes just need that renault clip reader to retrieve the fault.
either case your better off going with your local indy, who will erase the code and tell you to come back if it comes back on.0 -

I now have the exact same issues with AirCon, HRW, Front Windscreen Washer Motor and radio turning off etc. at the same time.Hot on the heels of my front window motor burning and filling the car with fumes! I will never buy French again, even when it's was at a good price from my own family!
Anyway, Did any other those folks who had these issues ever get it tracked down to a particular issue?? I would appreciate a quick heads-up!
I was really excited when I saw this entry, as it was quite a while ago, i was hoping you had found some solutions.
I have a 1.6 2007 Megane dynamique, and it all started with the driver window not working, followed by the sunroof not opening unless I put pressure on it when turning the nozzle. The radio just switches off randomly and the front window wiper is not working when I try to wipe once.
I'm quite surprised by the lack of solutions, as there certainly appears to be lots of issues with renault, and french electronics in general. A friend works in a renault garage, and despite our friendship he said they will charge me an arm and a leg.
All constructive advice welcomed.0 -

as described in the thread, try you cigarette lighter if it dont work then locate the fuse in the glovebox 15A replace the mini fuse that may have blown with the same current rating (15A) and see if the problems persist.
the sunroof is a separate issue as it is a manual winding type not operated by a switch in this case i would suggest using some grease on the runners of the sunroof and cleaning out all the carp that can sit in there during the winter while not in use.
as the wiper work normally on other setting but not on intermitant make sure that the rain drop selection on the stalk is not set to minimum i.e 1 rain droplet sign on the stalk as this can take a while to take affect once the wiper is selected on its first click always try and leave it on setting 3 and waiting a good few mins to see if anything happnes, if not a new stalk or comms 2000 unit is required and its not a pretty job to do because the sensor behind the stearing wheel is ver fragine and when broken becomes a pain in the backside expensive part to replace from renault.0 -

i'll add a bit more to this one after an encounter with a rn clio giving same symptoms as OP.
it maybe a 15A fuse so try this before moving onto this.
under the passenger side footwell (clio mk2 on with central locking), is a black box attached to the side of the box is a relay (this isnt the problem but for ref purposes). this black box has three plugs on it one black one white one black, you will also find the barcoadsticker/SN number on it.
if your indicators dont work, hazards, windscreen wipers, electric windows and you airbog on off swtich in the passenger door dont work, place you hand on this box and move it a little, whilst you have your igniotion on and a windscreen wiper, if you hear clicking repeatedly in that box (there circuit relays in there) then all of a sudden the electrics come to life these boxes get a battering from people feet loosening the mount (13mm bolt behind the trim for the bonnet pull and also attached behing the fusebox so half dash need dropping out) and getting the points wet with wet trainers/shoes re adjust the mount (13mm bolt) and push it up as far as it will go and allow with the bolt loosened in the mount bracked.
in the megane this can cause the same but the box is hidden up behind the glovebox, glove box removal is needed.
if this is the case, this unit is going to die eventually in the short term, i advise in hunting for one, i'm sure this box is part of the alrm system also, so be carefull in how you disconnect the wiring (pos terminal at battery disconnected) as you may end up losing the code for the fob/keycard, check with renault in what this thing controls other than the inside electrics and what is required to change one over.0 -
