This shop is from Aprils budget because non of it will get touched until Friday.
Yesterday I discovered that Tesco had slipped a voucher for 15% off an instore shop that was over £100 into my account but the voucher ran out today! I carefully researched products and we headed to our nearest Tesco incorporating it with a lovely drive through the Sunny countryside. Our shopping came to a horrific £154.95 but after tesco clubcard prices and the 15% off it came down to £100.15!!! Very pleased with that! The family are heading across to the island for Easter week so there will be 11 of us. I made sure that I only bought things DH and I will eat if plans change. (We sometimes end up going to DS's holiday rental to eat or picnicking near the sea with everyone chipping in if weather is fine)
By going into the shop I discovered Dh's favourite pizzas half price. I also discovered that you can buy 25 floor wipes for £1.50 when I usially pay £1.00 for 15 so they will last longer too. I took advantage of their half price beef joints so 2 small ones have been added to the freezer.
Ds has offered to bring lamb and all the trimmings to roast in my oven on Easter Sunday. I have gratefully accepted.
Dh usually pays if we all go out to dinner but with the family growing it has become more and more expensive. I think I may bust the budget this month but it will still be tons cheaper than eating out! I am determined to try my hardest.
Have also decided that as it is Easter Sunday and we have already got everyone an easter egg we can save on naughty treats by giving them those. I do find that snack stuff is what makes the shopping so expensive when you have little ones. In the 80's I dont remember children needing lots of snacks but my Grandchildren are always looking for a "little snack". This is made even harder as 2 of the 6 have allergies and I dont want them to feel any different. So the shop included cereal bars and I will do some baking on Thursday.
I have booked an online order for Thursday which includes ice lollies. 😊

I'm sorry about your little friend @elsiepac.I feel for you. I really do. Come and talk to us on here if you're feeling low or lonely. I know this is a grocery challenge but mood plays a big part in food shopping so a bit of comfort and some group hugs won't do any of us any harm. There's no reason why we can't offer some support to each other. Hugs to you (while handing out a hug from the hug pot to anyone who needs one).10

Budgets updated to here
Thanks for the lovely message everyone, she was my constant companion for 6 years and the house just feels so empty without her! I keep talking to her then realise I'm talking to no-one! I guess I'm just feeling so down and so weird at this change in "normal" that it's kinda hard to focus on anything. Spent a good day yesterday spring cleaning though so that was a positive and kept me busy.
I really need some fresh groceries but just don't feel like going to the shops, plus I only have a few pound left in the March GC until I get paid Wednesday so want to make sure I'm getting something useful - basically I just need to mini meal plan for the next couple of days.
Made a lovely simple chickpea stew the other night, with just onion, lots of garlic, carrots, courgette, red pepper, tinned tomatoes and chickpeas, and then a stock pot and lots of smoked paprika, cumin and chilli powder. It was so tasty!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old Style, Crafting and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Hi everyone, I’ve made changes to my families diet which has increased the amount I have spent in March. I’ve gone over budget by £116.93.
My budget for April is going to be £600 for 5 people. I have 5 shops to do and I will need some bulk items too.Save £12k in 2024: £5,350/£12,0005 -
Hi @elsiepac sorry about your budgie. I don't have pets, but grew up with having cats and you really do miss them when they're not around.
Please can you put me down for £350 for April 2024, as it includes the Easter holidays and so will need more food for my teenaged son doing his human hoover impression on the holidays and weekends 😂, plus we have 2 family birthday meals to attend.

Hello All
I'm a complete newbie and need to be held accountable for my spending! I was a member of this forum many years ago and found it really useful for keeping on track and finding new meal ideas. I completely overspent the last 2 months (newly diagnosed eating disorder in the family and went overboard on high calorie/fat snacks). My budget is £75.00 per week.
1 adult and 2 teenage girls. This budget excludes cat food as I have a separate budget for the cats.
Hoping to join other challenges when I've had the chance to look around properly.
