And it's been withdrawn. Best Virgin 1 Year Fixed ISA is now 4.76%. Well done to those who opened their ISA before the door closed!

Opened this a couple of weeks back in preparation for funding in the 24/25 tax year.

Given the 6th April falls on a Saturday, would it actually be better to hold off until Monday the 8th to actually transfer the funds?

Yes. Keep your money earning interest in an easy access account hopefully paying at least 5%. Then transfer on the first banking day after 6/4/24. You would be £5.70 better off if you transfer £20K on the 8/4/24 than 6/4/24 assuming you have a 5.2% Santander Easy Access.
I ,too, have received a text stating it is ok to fund VMFRCash Isa Issue 11 up to 5pm 7/5/24. Strange, after previously stating up to 30 days from withdrawal of product.

The only problem I can see is that a lot of banks do not do faster payments over a weekend, so if I ask say first direct to transfer 20k on Saturday 6th they will not do it until Monday 8th, will virgin refuse it because it is after the 7th? Did think I could transfer the money on Friday 5th to my virgin current account and then transfer it to the isa on the 6th, will this work?

    ???

The above references to the deadline on the 7th relate to May, not April!
