I don't understand why the OP is not getting the box that explains the protection?  Is it browser specific?  My screenshot above was from my phone.  I have just tried it on my PC using Chrome and it's also showing on there...

The 'Protect this item' section doesn't appear when selecting the 'Parcelshop Priority' service. From the price the OP paid, that must be the service they selected.

Yes, I concur, it doesn't appear for me either when selecting that service.

I've gone through the parcelshop priority on a PC using Microsoft edge and I still get the screen that has been shown that offers additional insurance as my parcel exceeds the standard £20 limit. I haven't tried it on a phone though, just on my PC.

Very odd.  I've just tried it on MS Edge and selecting 'Parcelshop Priority', the protection box does not show.  Or are you seeing it on a different screen?...

I'm seeing a screen much more like the original one- I even went back and checked I had chosen to go through the correct Evri portal and had opted for the service we are talking about. I've tried looking at other variations on the service and all allow me to add extra 'insurance' at a cost, and as a consumer I would be vey surprised if I wasn't offered the chance to cover an expensive parcel.

It's very odd, I can't imagine a parcel courier not offering a paid upgrade for protection- maybe it is a glitch on some searches. Has anyone else here tried doing that exact search and can comment?

As I have screenshots showing that I wasn't offered this and the glitch was potentially a bug on their end (??), is this likely to work in my favour? If I can prove they did not notify me that it was only insured up to £20 (the blue tick that appears next to the £980 value I entered suggested to me that they had accepted this amount), nor did they give me the option to insure the parcel further... surely this can help my case?

You might find that difficult as the landing page of https://international.evri.com/ says:
Sending your parcels around the world...
Send international parcels cheaper and easier...
International parcel cover up to £20 included in the price of your delivery

However that does not really matter because they don't have a statutory obligation to offer to sell you any extra 'protection', so you don't really have a case there to be helped.

You would have a case if the website had made a claim such as 'Full parcel cover included for loss or damage'.

You might have a case because they do have a statutory duty to take reasonable care of your goods and to carry out the contract with reasonable care and skill, but they might claim they discharge that by contracting with competent carriers for the overseas part of the delivery.
We know that Evri themselves do not transport goods outside the UK. The website says 'we will use one of our established and world renowned third party partners to deliver your parcel.'

Have they actually told you they have lost it?

That's a good point, is it really lost? With VAT and duty and all sorts of charges now being due on overseas parcels it isn't unknown for parcels to get stuck waiting for confirmation that any applicable charges have been pre paid and are not due on arrival.

I’m guessing Evri would handover to USPS.  Might be worth the OP trying the tracking number in the USPS tracking page - https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input
