Oh, how horrible for your friend. And horrible all round really - the dog will be put down, and if it had been trained better and kept under control it would never have happened 😭.
Hope you sleep better tonight and tomorrow feels more manageable ☺️Live the good life where you have been planted.

Oh goodness how awful Cheery - horrible thing to have happened.
If the hotel near enough to anywhere else to enable a visit somewhere that you wouldn't be able to justify doing direct from home? It seems a shame to just cancel it, but on the other hand, it will still cost you fuel etc to use it now won't it. Tricky call. I confess with non-refundable budget hotels when I can't use the room for any reason I don't actually cancel them - as I don't see why they should be able to then make double money out of it. If they have the facility to let it again, and do so, that should then trigger a refund to me, IMO!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Ha, that's a good way of looking at it!
We've decided to postpone. For various reasons, this event is likely to be one which is rescheduled in the same place, so at that point we'd want to stay over, so might as well use the same booking. It looks like there's no limit to the amount of times we can reschedule, but it has to be used within 18 months from the original date, so that gives us til nearly Christmas 2025 😂 I'll reschedule for a couple of months away for now, and if by November next year nothing has been planned we'll go anyway and at least be much closer to the seaside 😂10 -
It's good that you can move the booking so that seems a reasonable decision. Better than losing it completely. If it was just a case of losing your money then I'm with @EssexHebridean with no cancelling so they can't let the room again! I did exactly that with a Eurotunnel booking this year that we weren't able to use (had already moved it previously so could only move to end July which was no use to us as DH has had a knee replacement and can't drive; also DVLA in their wisdom have decided to send his licence renewal to Medical so he can only drive in this country as his licence actually expired in March!5

Yep - and yet I still forgot today! The venue did ring and email saying the event had been cancelled though, and giving choices about what to do with tickets (we're holding onto them for the rescheduled event).
Will do the hotel now!7 -
Hotel done. I was going to just postpone 8 weeks, but it wanted to charge me an extra £40! Have postponed to a random Saturday in October instead, which has apparently generated a refund of £13 😂 No point paying more til we know the actual date, and at least this way if we do end up not going at all (unlikely) it will have cost less!8

Evening MSE chums 😊
Gosh that was a long one - fitting for the longest day, I suppose!
Drove to the garage, walked to meeting in town, walked to the office later, Mr Cheery collected the car (which cost £20 😂😂) and then me. Cooked outside, and then I got first the mower out and then the strimmer.
Getting rid of the mower, I've decided. It's an electric one with a cable, given to us by our neighbours because it was too annoying dealing with such a long cable, and also it doesn't do well with bumpy ground or longer grass, so not remotely ideal for us either 😂 I'll check they don't want it back then stick it on Freegle.
Need to decide whether to persist with the strimmer or invest in a petrol mower. Would I do it more often with a mower? If not, I'd be best with the strimmer I think - what we have here more resembles 'rough field' than 'lawn', and it's in lots of different sections too, some of which would be inaccessible with a mower anyway. Hey ho. I ponder this every year, and every year inertia brings me down on the side of the strimmer 😂
Anyway, it was nice being outside despite the noise 😊 Here's the view from the front gate as I was coming back in - you can see a bit of the footpath I strimmed at the bottom of the picture.
And now a whole weekend stretches ahead of me, delightfully free! 😃 Band practice on Sunday teatime, and Mr Cheery has a friend here in the day on Saturday for musical things, but otherwise nowhere to be 😊😊😊
Obviously I have plans 😂😂
* weekly home blessing
* lots of flute practice
* get some batch cooking in the freezer
* finish the patio
* check banks/YNAB - it was payday this week so there will be a bit of shuffling, and need to decide whether to gather all the extra bank switching dosh into the main account or leave where it is.
* cancel swim membership - used it once this month and not at all in May, so I'm going to pay as you go! Will try to get a few in over the next week, get my money's worth 😂
That'll do, I think!10
