Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

I really wish we were in one of thr areas for free electricity - we’re not too far off, just one postcode area out, but unless it gets expanded for some reason which I guess it might, no free power for us!
your free money is super impressive - goes to show that a bit of effort on these things really pays off. I’m definitely keeping my eye open for the next switch which I would be eligible for and that doesn’t have lots of hoops to jump through - I have the donor account sitting ready now anyway.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

That's interesting, I hadn't realised they were restricted to certain areas - how annoying to be one postcode area out! I do wonder if they're expanding them though - my email just said
"This summer, keep your eye out for emails about Free Electricity sessions where you can fill your boots on power while the sun’s out and the wind's doing its thing."
Whereas I've never seen it mentioned before. Fingers crossed they're expanding it to more of us!
Yep, we've got a couple of donor accounts each now which is good so all ready for the next switch - once this one has paid out of course! I was following the Make £10 a Day thread for a while which was motivating but nobody's started it for the last couple of months - maybe I'll start it myself in June as an incentive to sort my clothes out and get some of them on Vinted!8 -
I'm at the extremely tedious very runny nose stage of my cold 🙄 It's definitely working through the stages so I hope will be gone soon. It's just a cold and fortunately hasn't floored me, and I'm functioning well enough with cold & flu tablets to take the edge off, but I'll be glad to see the back of it!
Meant to be going to Mr Cheery's gig tonight and staying over with friends but we'll see how that pans out later...
Might just try getting out of bed as a starting point 😂9 -
Well, I did go to the gig and it was most cheerful, they provided us with separate bedrooms so I could continue to snore and snuffle in peace, and we had a nice morning in their garden 😊 On a tedious journey home, via an unwise stop at a massive supermarket 🙄 We did at least pick up some good reduced bargains though, including two punnets of British strawberries for 75p each.
Bought the European breakdown cover past night - 5 days for £66. Tracked cashback already showing in TCB - £18.25 which is great. Had a lot of cashback for this holiday - £10 for travel insurance, £16 ferry, £10 for the house, and another £18 for the breakdown. Obviously pales in comparison to the cost of the holiday but better to have it than not!
Things we still need to check/do before we go:
* check car insurance
* print all docs (travel insurance, breakdown, tickets etc)
* check all times and maps
* find passports!
* last idiot check of passport and driving licence dates...
* transfer dosh to bank account that does free overseas transactions (and find pin numbers for cards)
I'm sure there's stuff I've missed...8 -

Good call, but fat chance of a milk delivery here, although a dairy farm is one of our nearest neighbours 😂
Another row done on the patio 😃 It's serving its purpose nicely this evening - the sun left my beloved swing seat about 4pm, but the patio is still sunny now and nicely sheltered, so I am alternating reading with adding a few more tiles 😂Looks like I've probably only got an hour or so of sunshine left here though, will try to get another row done. I think I've only got enough tiles for five, although it'll be a triangle shape eventually so it'll be more like 10 part rows. Watch this space...7 -

OH wanted to go to a funeral abroad and could not find his passport, found now too late but actually a blessing in disguise as he is not actually fit for the proposed journey due to bone damage from cancer and on the day he would have travelled was in a lot of pain
I transferred holiday dosh to bank account that does free overseas transactions and then tried to take out English cash at the only bank locally where I can. Card expired and had not been sent a new one. I can get the English cash I need through another account but for overseas spending I need the new card. Being posted Monday and I leave Thursday. Come on Royal Mail (very funny as my OH was my postman until he had to take ill health retirement)7 -
Oh crikey @Paspatur what a week you are having! Hope OH is feeling better very soon, and that your card arrives in time xx6
