Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

OK, so some of those things got done yesterday!
✅ pick up magazine
✅ garden waste and bottles to the tip
✅ DIY shop for compost and shelf wood
✅ lunch (still hoovering up leftovers from the weekend)
* party invitations! 😃
✅ spend a couple of hours doing draft of promotions application. I've got a job application from just before Christmas in a similar format so I'm not starting from scratch
*✅ (WELL, NOT YESTERDAY BUT TODAY) send a few emails relating to that
* tidy up some of the debris after the weekend (blankets, garden chairs etc)
* clothes away in bedroom
* garden planning - I dug out all the seeds today and there are FAR too many of them
* exercise video
✅ book event for Wednesday
* book 1st aid training
Not too bad.
Plumber has been this morning. Boiler (hopefully) fixed for £460. All paid and accounted for.
So today...
* more time on promotions form
* party invitations
* clear clothes in bedroom
* finish curtains
* study shelves??
* exercise video
* email LPG company (preferably when hungry) 😂5 -

Eek, glad you managed to get what you need in the end!
Well I have barely done anything else off that list 😬 I did send out some party invitations though, and had a couple of vague acceptances (although I shan't believe anyone will turn up til they actually do 😂)
Mr C and I had a little excursion, which turned out to be further than planned, and involved a new to us cafe, as the one we were aiming for was shut. Also had a charity shop mooch and got a pair of purple/red Pavers boots for £1. Yes, £1! I think they were trying to have a stock clearance before restocking.
Been lazing around doing some of my rag rug this afternoon but I'd like to do a small bit of activity of some kind before it goes dark.
Car is in the garage tomorrow. We're both going to town to use it as an excuse to do some visiting which will be nice 😊7 -
Funny old day!
Car to garage, then I met a colleague for a cuppa. Popped to a little farm to see the chickens 🥰 then met another friend who sneaked out to meet us at lunchtime 😊 Collected the car, Mr C went to see a friend, I got half way home then got a call from one of my friends who was now free for a cuppa, but I wasn't going to turn round at that point so we had a nice chat in a lay-by instead 😂
Then I got changed out and went to my little running event (walking in my case) - 5 miles done, back held up fine, and a new town explored 😊
Might see about an English Heritage place tomorrow. I did want to squeeze one in while I'm off, and don't really want to do a bank holiday.5 -
You were lucky to not injure yourself further - falling down stairs can be so dangerous .. glad you ok
I notice you found a new cafeDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

On the cards for today:
* little day out to make the most of my English heritage membership 😊
* need to see if there's space left on the free local 1st aid thing tonight - I forgot to book
* put shelves up in the study and move some books over
* make cushion for hay box
* make study windows for new curtains
I'm enthused about curtains after making the other ones. I think the study needs something more sturdy though. The upstairs ones are mostly decorative, and for use by an occasional guest to keep some light out. Downstairs gets cold, so as well as for guests, I like to shut them overnight to keep a bit of warmth in.
There are 3 windows, all different sizes, one with a radiator underneath, all slightly awkward because of the furniture, so they'll need to be shorter curtains. I'm hoping to adapt some 2nd hand ones rather than create new. We have a lot of pairs of velvet curtains in the loft but I do think they work best when long and swishy 😂 so I'm going to keep an eye out in a charity shop. Two of the windows are quite small so I might get away with turning 2 larger pairs of curtains into 3. I saw some yesterday that might have done, but I hadn't measured!5 -
Cheery as ever, your DIY skills amaze me. The fact you're going to the trouble of making new windows in the study, is thrilling! Or maybe you are embarking on making new curtains for the existing study windows?
Either way, I'm impressed with how you pitch in with DIY/crafting. BRAVO!

Ha, that should have read MEASURE the windows for new curtains! I'm a way off making my own windows just yet (never ruling it out though!) 😂😂😂7
-
So. Windows MEASURED 😂 But no curtains acquired yet. Need to write down measurements in feet and inches too, as charity shops seem to only ever list one.
Having trouble getting going today. Lay in bed for ages. Up now and have done a workout but still being indecisive about what to do for the rest of the morning and in what order. Breakfast first? Shower first? Crochet in front of the final episode of Call the Midwife, or do I save that for when it's raining this afternoon and get outside this morning? Or do I ditch the shower and have a luxurious daytime bath when it's raining later?
At the rate I'm going it'll be teatime and I'll still be sat on the floor of the study in my workout clothes having not even managed a cup of tea!!
This is what comes of not having made a list in advance 😬6 -
Well done for measuring the windows Cheery. I can only 'read' curtain sizes in inches - I have no clue how 'big' something is in cm, I just can't 'see' it.
I would vote for doing the outside tasks and then being indoor (for tasks or leisure) when it is raining. But then I'm sat here still in my PJ's, so..........
