No, it's really not Beanie, thank you!
I think I've had a missed call from them this morning, but I am hiding from my answerphone message, and my emails, and all the things I need to do.
Not good hiding, consciously done with hot chocolate and a good book, but guilty hiding, berating yourself and with a tightness in the chest that comes from knowing you'll have to face things sooner or later.
I don't like it, and I don't want to waste what's left of my holiday with it!
So. I have five days left. Saturday and Sunday are my birthday tea party, so I'm planning nothing for them except frolics and a constant round of tea and cake and maybe some visitors.
So that leaves me three days 😬 What I NEED to do is...
* finish promotions form (this requires a lot of little sub tasks and is the main thing making me anxious)
* prep for party - cakes, food, wash spare bedding, general tidy up
* prepare outside - mow grass, put chairs in appropriate places
* small errands (post a parcel, collect prescription)
And what I also WANT to do is...
* finish the study curtains (one down, five to go!)
* finish laying stones forbthevgarden paths
* shift a tonne of topsoil, preferably to level out the lawn, but at least to free up a parking space
* get some batch cooking done for next week back at work
* do some nice hanging out with Mr C
Right. Going to check the weather for the rest of the week and make a plan...6 -
I have a few of those tasks I have been putting off and I am aware the time I have now spent stressing about or thinking about them is way more cumulatively than the time it will take to do it - so aiming for one frog at least a day!
Enjoy your break
Maybe carry a tape measure (the rollup kind) in your purse in case you see some CS curtains..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Have you found the Spring In Our Step thread yet @LadyWithAPlan where we are tackling our Outstanding Annoying Tasks each day? Do come and join us if not!
Popping in to report a success - LPG people have admitted that the work they claimed was mandatory actually was NOT mandatory, and have agreed to just charge us for labour, meaning a reduction of over £700. Theoretically I could still quibble and go to the ombudsman, but i think now they've admitted that, we'll stop - the work they did is an upgrade in terms of safety and I would have agreed to it for this price if that had been the quote, so I think we'll agree. They've said they'll change their misleading wording for all customers too, which is a success.
Big success for me - I am rubbish at complaining about anything!18 -
That is a result, well done for persevering.3
