I did indeed, and we had a nice and calm rest of the weekend.
Back at work now though. Parking permits this week so nothing to pay, and I've brought meals and snacks with me.
Good job really - I did the banking last night and realised we've spent (prepare yourselves) £313 so far in cafes this month 😱😱😱😬 It's possible some of that was misallocated (eg if it was a supermarket cafe) but not most of it. Clearly that's not in any way sustainable 😮 We do have a fairly robust cafe habit at the best of times, but in dealing with the nonsense of the past few weeks it's gotten quite out of hand. Still, we are now aware and will get back on top of things.
Payday today, and we have had a small pay increase applied, which for me equates to an extra £65.65 a month. Better than nowt. Should get another one in September.
Not sure what's going on with the LPG company. They sent me a second quote (rather than an invoice) after last week's work, but it was only about £30 cheaper than the first quote, despite them not replacing any underground pipes. First response was just one person forwarding my email to someone else, then today I've had an email retracting the second quote. So hopefully they're going to reconsider some of it... I'll happily pay what I actually owe, but if they've told me I needed work doing to be legally compliant, then come out and done something that wasn't necessary (because it was already legally compliant) then that's a different matter... 🤔 Will wait and see.
Right, back to work, although I've got a banging headache so I won't be here too much longer I don't think...9 -
Fair dos! That is serious cafe life 😉 The important thing is you’ve caught it and there were exceptional circumstances happening to you!Well, done on the being organised with parking permits and food for work 😊👏 I hope the headache eased after.The LPG company seem to be disappearing up their own fundament! Good luck with sorting that one without too much hassle … 🤞

Thanks KK 😊
Well, no real MSE news here. Had a nice day at the co-working space with a friend yesterday, and me and Mr C are going to the seaside for a couple of days for a much-needed break from chores and family. Not MSE but got a reasonably priced last minute hotel room and it's not too far, so...
Meant to be on strike on Monday and Tuesday 😬 hoping that'll be called off today.

Well, we had a marvellous time at the seaside. Pure rest and recuperation, just what we needed.
Hotel was alright, wouldn't go there again. Website said they had a few parking spaces, but reception guy quite rudely told Mr C off for parking, because apparently it's now for staff only 🙄 Aside from that (and the far-too-soft mattress, which is just a preference really) it was nice and quiet, and we had a sea view 😊
Mostly did our usual round of cafes and charity shops and bimbling 😂 shared a single takeaway on the beach each night, and did cheap supermarket sandwiches for lunch, but had breakfast in cafe/pub, and coffee/cake later in the day. About £250 all in, including accommodation (but not fuel). Not too bad.12 -
Meant to say, I've been making curtains for my craft room this evening. I've had the fabric (an old duvet cover) for a long time, bought a plain sheet for the lining recently, started cutting a few weeks ago then stalled - there wasn't quite enough of the front of the duvet, so I had to figure out how to make them longer without looking too odd.
Done now though. Two are cut out with the hems sewn - lining for all four is cut, and I'll put the first two together tomorrow. Need Mr C to help me put a rail back up on the other window, but I'm hopeful i can get those done tomorrow too.
A nice MSE project - duvet was less than £5 from a charity shop, lining sheet £2.50, and I already had a load of lining tape etc.
Good practice for me too. I've not made curtains before, and starting with patchwork patterned fabric wasn't the easiest 😂😂 I want to make more for the three windows in my study, but I'll be finding plain fabric for those 😂😂 they also need to be more cosy - it gets cold in there and I want to keep some heat in overnight. But let's not get ahead of ourselves!
On the list tomorrow
* unpack
* washing
* ring garage (yawn)
* finish curtains, including getting pole up
* possibly do a bit in the garden - I've still got a load of grass to shift from the hay field, and I want to make a new hay box for cooking soup etc.
Mr C is out in the evening, so of I've finished the curtains I might either do some batch cooking, or there's an aquaerobics class at the gym I might pop to.8
