I have a spare kettle that I keep on the yard for boiling water. It never really gets used but I feel reassured with a spare! (Odd really as I hate clutter!)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
Ha, I boiled pans for hot water bottles last night, and for tea this morning, but it was most inadequate. When Mr C suggested a cafe trip this morning, I jumped at the chance to pop and get another kettle 😂 He's gone off to a band practice now, and I am making as much tea as I want 😁 Ultimately we'll retrieve ours (I definitely can't see it in the car, but there's still a lot of stuff in there and I'm not unpacking in this horrid weather when I don't need to) but for now this will do.
Had a vague list for this afternoon, but using the opportunity to get a little more work done 🙄 Not ideal, but everything is all over the place at the minute, I (understandably) missed a deadline on Friday and promised it would be ready for Monday, and I don't want to leave myself too much to do Monday morning, as I also have different stuff to prepare for Monday afternoon 🙄
However, I am mindful of (a) the state of the house (which we left in a hurry the other day) and (b) the need for a proper rest, so I've set a hard limit of 2 hours. One done, one to go, and then...
* quick tidy round kitchen/dining room/study
* computer tasks - YNAB, upload photos, blog post, other minor admin, although I might just make a list and do those other things in the week
* last week's Call the Midwife while wielding the IPL machine
* possibly a bath, definitely a shower
* flute practice
Mr C should be home by then. Want to do some meal planning. I'm working at home Monday, but out the rest of the week. Have some stuff in the freezer, but need to check. Hoping to save batch cooking for tomorrow.
Right, back to it!7 -
OK. Well, of course my list didn't all get done 😂 but things are more tidy, downstairs is hoovered, the washing up is done, a load of washing is hung around the place, YNAB is all checked and reconciled (after a brief moment of panic when it took me ten minutes to realise I'd entered a transaction of £392 in the supermarket instead of £3.92 😱😂), and I have watched last week's Call the Midwife and reacquainted myself with my poor neglected IPL machine.
So not a bad evening all in 😊
So, this week.
Monday - working at home, Mr C to another band practice
Tuesday - in the office, big car to the garage for the heater, but they'll also need to fix the spring. If they don't finish it, I'll need to stay over with friends
Wednesday - little car to the garage (engine light on) BUT if they didn't finish the big car yesterday, that's the priority. Mr C to his dad's with a friend - if the big car got finished, and I got home on Tuesday night, he'll go in that. If not, and I'm still at work, he'll go in the little car and I'll stick around in the city til it's done.
(Are you keeping track?? There will be a test! 😂😂)
Thursday - I've booked a day at the co-working space! 😃 Mr C will still be at his dad's. I assume I will have a working car, but if I don't, and have been staying with friends, then I'll get the bus to the co-working space, and then back to the city to collect the car.
Friday - working, gah! Most unsatisfactory, but it can't be helped on this occasion. Need to be in a different city - can go on the train from normal work if the car is still in the garage (it won't be - it's more likely that they'll just give up on the heater and tell me to bring it back another time 🙄)
Saturday - much as I'd love to do my Christmas visit to my own family, I think I might be in need of a day to myself 🙈 we'll see.
Sunday - band practice for me.
So all fingers crossed the big car is easily fixed on Tuesday, both the heater and the spring. If not, it might be a week of sofa surfing for me. Fortunately I have a lovely network of pals I can spread myself around if necessary 😊8 -

And I thought my weekday week was crazy ..
hope you managing to rest now!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
