Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

I do hope it works out and doesn't end up being one of those ridiculous situations where someone doesn't want to do it but doesn't want to say, so strings you along for months... we had that once before (but with someone we didn't know that well). We'll see.
Today has been a bit of a write off. I've been SO exhausted I could barely do anything, had to get Mr Cheery to help me make a decision about whether to go to a meeting this afternoon 🙄😂 Definitely could have done with being asleep an hour ago but have been messing about in that stupid tired non-achieving way!
Have at least done a good bit of flute practice though 😊 I think I'm at the stage that everything i can't play is down to my own lack of skill rather than the denture 😂 so normal practice should suffice to get me up to speed!
Still getting used to denture. It looks better obviously, but it's weird having something in your mouth all the time, and as this is just the 'immediate' one while my mouth heals, it's not great. Still learning how to eat on it (but I think that's partly because it presses on the site of the extraction and makes it a bit sore!) Will give it another week and see about going back for more adjustments.
Right, sleep.6 -
Sounds like you needed the rest, Cheery. It's lovely when a bit of furniture moving gives you more space, isn't it? I moved my sofa a week or two ago and my living room looks about a third bigger!
With your friend who has offered to do the odd jobs for you, perhaps wait for him to contact to arrange a time. Then you will know he does want to do it?Live the good life where you have been planted.

Yep, will definitely be doing that. I'm not expecting it to be instant!5

Grr, what a palaver of a day!
Ended up washing my hair this morning and setting off later than planned. There was SO much traffic and I got to work about 8.55.
I had a parking permit, and had printed it and put it in the car, but couldn't find it! Didn't have time to turn everything else, thought I'd print it in the office, but the printer was broken. Wrote a note with all details, name, staff number, permit reference number etc and left that in the car also saying I'd print in a different building.
Ran to teaching session, dropping car keys off at reception in a different building for Mr C to collect later (he didn't anyway) and was a few mins late for teaching but it was ok.
Meant to print permit but got distracted by colleague then had another meeting. Printed permit after though, walked back to car - to find a PCN 😡
They've taken a photograph of my note, which includes all the permit details, but which isn't an actual print out of the permit. !!!!!!.
Have appealed it, and hopefully they'll let me off given I'd displayed all the details, but there's no guarantee of course.
How annoying!!
In more cheerful news, the other car has passed its MOT and has had a bit of exhaust replaced so hopefully that will feel like a new car too!9 -
How irritating about the ticket. Assume you'll ask the Uni to cancel it - it's doubtful the company will pay any attention otherwise.Anyway, trust you're having a lovely Friday doing non-work, enjoyable things!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Sadly the uni don't have any control over parking - you book through them, but it's patrolled by the council and they issue the tickets. But we will wait and see!
Grumpy today, suspected hormones 🙄 A nice breakfast, then a bit of squabbling. Mr C went back to bed, I spent an hour looking for my English Heritage membership card, and have now driven myself out to visit a local ish site. Just calming myself with cake and a cuppa then I'll wander in - it's a small place so won't take long, and of course the advantage of annual membership is that I can always come back if I haven't had enough time!9 -
I hope the EH visit was good and you are both in better moods this eveningAt least if the ticket is the council, they shouldn't just be out to make money (to quite the same extent that PPCs are).

Fingers crossed on all counts!
EH place was very peaceful - I didn't get there til almost 4pm. There was one couple in there, but they were on the way out so I had the place to myself, which was very nice. I was tempted to move in! (Aside from the fact that it didn't have a roof, of course 😂)
Now holed up in a pub with tea and cake, plotting and scheming with my notebook 😊6 -
And now Mr not-very-Cheery's laptop has broken 🙄 He was using it, it was plugged in, battery was charging and then it just went off 🙄 Still under warranty with BackMarket so we can send it back, but of course he hadn't backed everything up, even after the last one got struck by lightening and he lost everything then 🙄 Let that be a lesson to us all!
I think we need to buy some kind of cloud storage - we have two external hard drives but obviously they're being ignored!7 -
Gosh I'm a moaning old so-and-so today! 😱 I do apologise! Need to end the day with some gratitude i think!
❤ We had a lovely cafe breakfast this morning, and saw some excellent jackdaw landing demonstrations, and some fantastic dogs
❤ Spotted our donated furniture on sale in the charity shop. Think they're being wildly over-optimistic in what they're asking for it but I suppose time will tell! 😂
❤ Bought some flip flops in town so I can go swimming again - never putting my bare foot on another changing room floor in my life!
❤ Found my English Heritage card
❤ Had a castle to myself for an hour! Very exciting! 😃 Very grateful to myself for having bought membership in the summer 😊 I only need to use another £30 worth now and it will have paid for itself 😊
❤ Lovely sunshine all day, and I got so hot and bothered walking about earlier that I took my coat off!
❤ Had a nice pot of tea and a bit of cake in the pub by myself
❤ Mr Cheery did a load of tidying while I was out and the place now looks nice and visitor ready again 😊
❤ Left my lunch on the kitchen table yesterday, so I was able to eat it for tea today - no extra cooking!
❤ Had a few hours sat in my new favourite living room spot in the corner of the sofa bed by the radiator watching, among other things, yesterday's All Creatures Great and Small with a hot water bottle and a nice candle 😊
❤ Picked up a tasty bottle of booze earlier so am planning to have a sip or two shortly 😊
❤ Finally remembered to order myself a new bra after my underwire snapped many weeks ago - I do have others, but none are as good as that one!
❤ Next year's calendar arrived! Ordered from a local ish woman who takes beautiful photos, so there's all of places not too far from here. I'll enjoy having them up in the kitchen
So there. Despite my grumpiness the day has been filled with cheerful things 😊 Hope yours has too x15
