Morning (just) MSE chums 😊
Mr Cheery had an early docs appointment this morning, so we both went, and stayed out for breakfast - some experimental eating with my new denture (which wasn't that experimental, as it was only porridge, but it did have blueberries and seeds in).
Then, big job broke out! We had to move some furniture to have the windows done, and Mr C got carried away and kept moving things, and we popped into our favourite charity shop to see if they'd be interested in collecting a couple of larger items... and they're coming this afternoon! 😱😱 Three big bits of furniture, a chaise, a bureau/display cabinet, and the American organ, which Mr C has thought long and hard about getting rid of, but has decided that one harmonium in the house is probably enough, especially as neither of us play 😂
So now we are in a frenzy of dusting and moving and washing, and the living room will be very bare when our visitors get here tomorrow!

It's quite daunting! I think Mr C will have mild regrets about getting rid of the harmonium... it's very beautiful (especially now I've taken all the crap off and given it a good clean 😂) but it just doesn't suit this house at all, and neither of us play it...
Just cleaning the walls now 🙈 and got the dehumidifier on to dry out the carpet...5 -
Right, the geezers have been and gone, taking the chaise and the harmonium, but not the display bureau thing, which was just too big for them (it's in two pieces so they could have shifted it, but they have a policy about the max size of things they can sell).
Still, two large things gone, and all the stuff we pulled out of the bureau can now go back in while our guests are here 😂
So. Two guests are bringing their camper van, two are having our bedroom, and me & Mr C will have a guest room each, which means everywhere needs a tidy! 🙈
2nd washer load has just finished so I will finish my tea and then...
3-4 OUTSIDE
* washing pegged out
* mow lawn
4-5.30 NORMAL TIDYING
* Flylady home blessing
* hoover
* dust
* clean bathroom
* washing up etc etc
5.30-6.30 FOOD
* make tea
* washing up
* some prep for tomorrow
6.30-8 BIGGER STUFF
* shift remaining furniture that Mr C hasn't shifted
* clean living room walls 😱😂
That'll probably do. They're not arriving til after lunch tomorrow, so we can do beds, food etc tomorrow I think.6 -
Assume washing is staying out overnight? If not, you may be being optimistic! 😂That's quite a house full, how lovely, although a lot of work too. I'm assuming that after 8pm is rest and relaxation time?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

No, I'll probably bring it in, just figured it might as well get a tiny bit of drying time 😂 Anyway, dehumidifier is in use drying out the mouldy carpet in the living room so the more moisture i can keep out if the house the better 🙄😂
Yes, theoretically after 8 is rest & relaxation, but given the state of the living room, perhaps not 😂5 -
Ha, well obviously today has just been all over the place 😂
I finally remembered the washing at 8pm 🙄 that's now inside - the first load is dry, the two duvet covers that were the second load had dried quite a bit actually, and are now draped over radiators.
We spent a grumpy hour shifting the bureau/display case thing that the charity shop didn't want - we've moved it a few feet to the right 🙄 It was SO heavy, and because the top isn't secured to the bottom, an absolute menace.
Done now, and re-filled with everything I hastily took out of it earlier 🙄 Made a start on cleaning the unholy mess behind it
Ultimately we'll get rid of it, but this evening is about creating some semblance of order before guests arrive (you might argue that shifting furniture to this extent was not conducive to that aim, and I would agree, but Mr Cheery operates on a whim-based system when it comes to such matters 😂)
Tomorrow we'll need to shift the sofa bed out of my study into the living room, because the whole point of this reshuffle was about creating better seating arrangements. Eventually we plan to buy a comfier spare bed, but for now the sofa bed can live in the living room - it's actually nice as a sofa.
Anyway, I will attempt a before and after - not by any means the final after, but after for now! Might take me a while to find a before though, this room was never finished, it's always just contained stuff that wouldn't fit elsewhere 😂6 -
2.5 hours to visitor arrival, and where might you find Cheery and Mr Cheery?? That's right! Lugging the sofa bed across the garden in the rain, because the steps to the living room inside the house are too narrow.
Did we shout at each other? Yes!
Were we both unreasonably grumpy? Yes!
Were there some minor injuries? Yes!
But did we successfully move the sofa bed from one end of the house the other and up several steps in the rain without damaging either the sofa bed or the grass? YES!!
😂😂Celebratory cuppa and then we MUST sort out the landfill site that the rest of the house looks like!!

Just hope that you didn’t damage yourself or Mr Cheery either xxx5
