I enjoyed it. It’s crime but fantasy as well. And definitely an ending with another book to follow. Took a few chapters to get into it but I was pleased I did. I don’t think it will be to everyone’s taste tho.2

I paid 50p each to reserve four of The Blind Detective series by Christina Koning. They will be delivered to our local library.
The town library had covered Ordinance Survey maps for sale at 20p. I suggested that the grandsons might try map reading and plan a walk. We used to borrow maps and guide books for our holidays, and visit the local library on holiday.3 -
I'm on my 19th book of the year. The Psychopath Next Door - Mark Edwards. I'm not really enjoying it to be honest and I'm about halfway through.2025 GOALS

Picked up a Simon Schama hard back at a charity shop for £1. Called Dead Certainties. I bought it for the OH as he likes Schama as his take on history is so interesting. This apparently is a historical fiction about the death of General Wolf in Quebec so I might take a look at it too at some point.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Found Guilty by Definition by Susie Dent in a CS, enjoying it so far but it may be a bit clever for me! Always enjoy her columns in Saga magazine.Signature removed for peace of mind3

May I recommend My Brother Michael by Mary Stewart?
Set in 1954, it is the story of Camilla Haven on a trip to Greece. The opening line is “Nothing ever happens to me”, which Camilla writes in the letter that she is sending to the friend who was meant to travel with her, while she’s sitting in a cafe in Omonia Square, Athens, trying to figure out how to stretch her budget so that she can afford to go to Delphi. She feels like life is passing her by:I feel just a little bit high and dry. You’d have thought that something – some sniff of an adventure – would have happened to a young woman… marooned on her own in the wilds of Hellas, but no: I go tamely from temple to temple, guide-book in hand, and spend the rather long evenings writing up notes for that wonderful book I was always going to write, and persuading myself I’m enjoying the peace and quiet.’
Of course, she is tempting Fate… (No spoilers.)
As mentioned previously, this was a re-read, the first time in over a decade. The book hasn’t aged. It’s as fresh as if it was published yesterday. It kept me gripped and I really wished there were a couple more chapters after it finished. There is so much more that I want to know about Camilla’s adventures. (I always have, even the first time I read it, whien it was a compulsory text at school.)
