Just to updat on a more positive note...did the sums and even not having paid cc's yet am still ahead of last month which is good! Feel better for that as felt slightly out of sync! Shows how much has changed! Had a lovely snooze & then read "In the red" which for a reformed(ish) shopaholic is v. funny!! Got t from the library and really enjoyed it! Also got a cheapie cookery book & healthy oe so will get more ideas there. Must shift weight as put on 3 more ibs. oops! Enjoying er & without a trace with my non alch beer! Also debating changing to asda as my supermarket tells me I culd have saved 7 on this week shop and over a month thats alot! Must clean keybpard as keep missing letters! Must be the toast in the keys!! Hugs all!

Toast in the keys? Dont eat the crumbs....
You sound a lot more upbeat, and had a good week by all accounts, money wise.
I am on the flavoured water tonight, i find it helps me to stop wanting my saturday night wine. Not had any for a long time though after kidney probs.

Also quite fun having to be innovative with presents etc and a good bunch of people also doing the challenge! We're on o/s....people do it slightly diff times and mine ths week is from today until next sat - 6 days but still hard going!

Evening all! Well a no spend day for me! Had a lovely am with breakfast & book in bed with cuddles from puss cats...then housework (so I have yummy clean sheets tonight!).
Found myself forraging for nettles & ate them for tea & they were yummy! Honest! Have a ook on old style at OS vs USDA thread & theres a recipe (of sorts!) & a piccie! Very chuffed as its only the second from scratch recipe I've tried in terms of adding this & that and seeing what its like! Will def make it again & apparently it costs about 84p which isnt bad considering it had porchini mushrooms & they aint cheap!
Also had a lovely afternoon with Weezl forraging for elderflowers only to discover what I thought were elderflowers werent which caused much laughter & innovative cunning plans as we tried to find what WERE elderflowers only to discover theyre not out yet but theres a lovely one at the allotment! Then picked nettles, had a cuppa at the plot, planted some seeds and ate my ginger cake which wa yummy (crispy outside & yummy in!)...suspect it will be even nicer after a couple of days! All in all a blissful day. Just finished "In the red" which was very funny but I did question whether she had a proper LBM as (a) OH paid half household bills (b) she still shopped in M&S food (c) still bought lunch daily & didnt make bread and cut down in that way & has never, as far a I could tell, shopped in aldi, lidl or market!! Having said all that it was very funny reading things that were very "me" and I also felt quite proud that I felt I had, so far, got more from the journey in many ways having discovered reading, cooking, allotment, cheap fun and never did buy prada...!! Have desperately missed my granny this week...I made a new bread recipe and so wanted to phone her so she could have a try too...one of those forgot she died, then remembered & felt sad again. Thankful to have loved & been loved so much but still miss her...doeent stop me chatting to her though!

hi ISOM, i'll join your no spend week but am i allowed to put petrol in the car? NO????? oh well best let my boss know i'm not in this week either, it's such a shame.
I've been out in the garden today with OH, we've finally moved the water butt so that can fill up again, all 3 were empty only days ago - am i the only person hoping for a nightful of rain?
I treated myself with some books from some birthday money, the latest No 1 detective agency book - i've been reading them for years, and the one that you have raved about, set in Afghanistan can't wait to read it.
I also spent some christmas vouchers in a craft shop, bought some lovely papers and other bits and bobs which i'm looking forward to using them.

Hi ISOM I might well have a no spend week, tho I'll have to buy some fresh veg, as I'm nearly out - bad planning AGAIN this last fortnight, tho because I had the builders here I wasn't cooking as I usually do, so thats part of it - but not the whole story. My weekdays are often almost no spends, just the odd bar of chocolate, or a bus fare if I'm doing a mystery shop - I work from home and live in a suburb there is *nothing* to spend money on - the local shop is 5m away, a tiny Coop is 15m fast walk away, thats it really. What is unusual this week is that my Saturday has been no-spend - but I'm afraid thats cos I've been ill, lolling about at home.

Gardening - joining you in working on growing produce would actually be more beneficial for me! I have a big back garden, some of which could be used for food production, and a big window box emptied out last year, that could be used for herbs, and could be plonked down on unwanted plants to provide a temporary mulch.

Your Sunday sounds idyllic, really wonderful, I'm so pleased for you. I have elderflower in my garden, btw, and its just starting to flower. I've always wondered about making something, and working on the garden would be a lot cheaper and productive than paying to go to an exercise class!

Sounds like a lovely day, only tried nettles in tea, must have a look at recipe. Parents make lots of elderflower and elderberry wine - great stuff ;)

Strangely had a few moments like that about my gran this last week too, was thinking about telling her something and forgot she wasn't there anymore, miss her loads but am sure they're up there (or out there, whatever you believe in) watching us getting up to gardening and cooking and sewing with big smiles.
