I think you need to overpay what you can comfortably then stick the rest of what you think you can overpay in a savings account. That way if its left at month end you can use it to overpay as intended.
It is tough though I want to overpay but then fear I will be short but if I dont then I fear I will just waste the money. The DFW can be a pain at times lol!:j0 -
certainly can! Days like this I cant imagine what it will be like not to have the millstone!! Onwards & upwards...I always get like this when I'm tired so will have a nice day. Bread is in the ven, wash is on, just had a tidy & duffy is singing "I'm a dreamer" ...wish I was at 4am!! Fab album though! Must also loose some weight! Have put on 6 ibs since joining tesco diets lol!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Hi ISOM
I've missed your diary completely since I got back from Germany, just caught up a little bit - I'm feeling wary again about the spending, business seemed to be picking up but has now stopped that - its amazing what a low income for a few weeks can do. I'm so torn between the "stock up now cos prices are going up like crazy" and the "save money by using everything that you've got" scenarios. How do you balance them out, or doesn't it bother you about the price rises so much?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Karmacat. Im trying to cut back as much as possible but if I see something I know we use alot at a good price then as long as I havent overspent on the other stuff I will overbuy.:j0

Thats it, really, isn't it.... I think what I've done is stocked up a lot on things like oats, cornflakes, rice, soymilk, ground coffee when it was really really cheap, and it really makes the storecupboards full, but its not luxuries I'm frittering money on.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I'm not sure theres an answer TBH...I stocked up cos I'm doing a no spend week from tomorrow, panicked a bit, was tired and just wanted it done which was a mistake! I normally go to tesco but had to get a prescription so had to do sains which was silly! Never mind whats done is done. Re the price increases I honestly try not to think about it too much because there is little I can do and it means I have less overpayments so not a case of being sooo on the edge that its scary but when I do think about it (esp petrol) it makes me feel physically sick...not sure if that helps?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Exactly basics that will get used. Also if there is a bargain "luxury" to be had always worth a treat once in a while!:j0

Hi ISOM, sorry you've had a bad day but don't feel too bad about the spending, know the feeling about being tired, you just want things like shopping out of the way. Don't forget how well you're doing - however fast or slow it's going, at least your debt's going in the right direction! And no matter what, you have to eat!!
Hope you have a lovely day today xxDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Actually, that does help, ISOM. Don't think about it cos there's not much I can do. I think I've gone a little bit crazy on it, it ties in to all kinds of fears for me, and also they're easy things to get up to the minimum online shop amount, but I have to stop, its got to the stage where I was storing food in the 2nd bedroom - okay, its not expensive food, but its still stuff I *really* don't need to have, and there's no point getting rid of book and CD clutter if I'm just going to create food clutter!
Thanks! This has been really helpful!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Karmacat why dont you join us on a no spend week? When you do it yo realis (or I did!) how I replaced tat shopping with crcery shopping! My cupbards are fit to burst & I still panic but think its more no shopping panic than going to starve panic IYKWIM! I bribe myself with treats (cheap ones!) and fugure even wth treats I generally spend half of what I used to and dont waste as much as I used to (although work to do there!). Good that it was helpful! Dont know about anyone else but if I hear the expression "credit crunch" again I think I'll do something or someone an injury!! Mid you doesent stop people spending hundreds! Tesco & sains were packed & people going round with loaded trolleys!! Surely they cant all be feeling thousands! Off to snooze...!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
