I'm so with you on people thinking the MSE stuff is mad - constantly being told not to worry "it's only a fiver...or a tenner", they don't seem to realise they all add up. Have a lovely time with your fellow MSEr at least they will understand! one of my dearest friends who is constantly skint spends a shocking amount on processed stuff at the supermarket but there's no telling her...

Hello SS!! Would your friend do a spendng diary? Its a great way of realising how the little spends add up & was a revelation for me! I hang my head in shame when I think of the thousands & thousands I used to waste....seriously I would think nothing of spending hundreds in an afternoon! My cousin & I used to have a comp when we met for who could soend the most!! How times have changed though as shenoted recently! We went shopping & I spent much of the time laughing at how ridicuous the price things were and despite tryng on clothes didnt buy any cos now I have to be in love with them to buy them!! Felt great & I feel so much more sorted & sane IYKWIM!

Nope ISOM she wouldn't do a spending diary - she doesn't think she has time to do anything I've suggested despite the fact she's totally disorganised and drives 5 miles each way to shops whenever she runs out of milk. also she recently told me proudly that she'd consolidated her cc debt into a car loan, I did ask if she hadn't thought about just moving it to 0% but she didn't think she'd get a 0% card so didn't try... yet she wasn't concerned that she might not get a car loan? I've tried but don't want to preach at her so hoping the occassional drip of information might get in there. also told her about this site so maybe one day...
Spending comps though! what were you like!:rotfl:

I know awful isnt it! Once I produly won having spent 600 (including the full range of chanel face creams - which I was then allergic to but did get a refund!!) in an afternoon! I cant believe it now & can easily see how Igot ito so much debt and am 100% happier now that I dont spend loads! Plus have found out what is important to me and what isnt! Generally think I'm a changed person but also know (as you do:) !) that you cant have someone LBM for them but just have to be there for them when they do! I know I've inspired people to make changes & that helps although I can understand the frustration of watching someone self distruct! Maybe like me she'll only have her LBM when the credit runs out & she has to do sommat! Hang in there!

    Hello

Have a fun afternoon. Ill look into the Sky thinging - you can tell Im a techincal person cant you!

I used to think nothing of spending 100 a week on food even though I knew money was tight. I also would think nothing of spending £5-10 a day on lunch and not thinking how much it all added up.

Well have been productive! Have cleaned (hoovered, changed sheets & put vinegar round the manky bathroo tap!) & washing is on. Also ordered optiumu nutrition bible that I got from the library yesterday as think its excellent! I agree with the food is health theory and need to find out more - also fed up of being ill all the time! Wine I suspect will need to go! Off to have a shower & hen meet up with a fellow MSE;r - very exciting!! Have a good afternoon all! Will catch up later!
