laura_lau said:I have been counting transport because it's not a necessary expense in my case: sometimes I take the bus / tube / train to see friends, and that I count as a spend day (also because it usually is followed by other expenses anyway). Transport for work it depends: I have different options, the bus, by far the cheapest, or train, lazier but approximately 4 times more expensive. If I go to work with the bus, then I count it as NSD, but if I'm lazy and take the train, then it's a spend day.3

Happy March everyone! I think the target this month will be 25 - I’m anticipating 2 days where there may be ‘fun’ spends, 3 of necessary but mostly unbudgeted spends (car repair, and I’ve a new hole in my living room ceiling!), and then 1 more day just in case.
For me personally, a Spend Day is where I spend money on things which aren’t strictly necessary.
Bills, groceries, petrol, pet costs (food, medications, jabs, regular vet visits, additional therapies), bus fares - all of these will count as NSDs for me.
Additional unexpected vet visits also count as NSDs for me - these will be NSDs, even if I have to pull money from savings, and end up in the red for the month.
A Spend Day might be if I buy a snack or a drink while I’m out - it’s not necessary groceries - or miscellaneous purchases.‘When you only have two pennies left in the world, spend one on bread and the other on flowers. The bread will sustain life, the flowers will give you a reason to live.’Frugal living in 2024.
