Slaying my Debts

You're right about stuff just growing, I love the idea of the minimalist look but I just can't do it. Its taken me years to realisethat even if its a bargain its still money leaving your purse.cod can you sit on my shoulder too?long haul no 65:sad:

I went "cold turkey" last year for a month, and apart from a couple of slips since I mostly don't buy the "things" I used to.
And clearing the loft (which has been an aim for TWO years now) IS really like getting new stuff like CoD says! But when I find it I wonder if it is e-bayable as I've not missed it
Confession - we have Christmas decorations in 3 different colour schemes :eek:0 -

of course i can lovely x just ask
i read somewhere a while ago (not MSE) that someone said they'd "saved" hundreds by buying their children tons and tons of presents at reduced prices. there is logic both sides to that. if you needed absolutely everything on that list and got them reduced then great! if you didn't and just kept buying because they were "bargains" then not so great. better to be a canny buyer and enjoy the saved money on any bargains in your pocket than buying more plastic fantastic.
I may need to be reminded of this if we have children :rotfl: the cardboard box the dishwasher came in when i was wee was far more fun than most toys.
sales are so clever though, i got an email from JL today about bargains not to be missed rushed to the site then told myself off and shut it down, it's much more satisfying being a canny shopper and not buying for the sake of buying.0 -

I have an agreement with my husband on that one, he said he ONLY liked decorations in white and silver. i said if we had that i could get the girly ones i like which he wouldn't choose himself, think butterflies, sequins, glass..) this was agreed so our colour scheme will never change he gets the colour he likes and i got to buy butterflies. :rotfl: it looks lovely and won't date IMO.0 -
ooooooooooo so many replies!
Mumtoone, that just sounds horrible, its always some one else's problem police can't do anything HA won't do anything (surely they must break their tenacy agreement with the noise and therefore be chucked out put things are never that bloody simple.
I will go to Florida once the debts are paid off. I always feel bad holidaying else where, when I miss her so much.
I got my friends presents, hmmm. I bought them 15 quid next vouchers.......not very moneysaving but i hadn't read your brilliant idea about the IOU and they are both having a rough time of it. we will all go shopping in the holidays...I have 40 quids worth of vouchers to spend. I keep forgetting to use them......
CoD you must stay, and remind me never to spend, I have put my request in to free cycle, that clearing out the loft idea is genuis. We moved here five years ago and I haven't seen much of anything since then!!!
And Kika, I start out as minmalist and end up as maxminalist!
Still due to work being so Sh*** I am going to have to shift some stuff, either through e bay freecycle or charity shop so maybe I'll get there!
and Olive, really don't ask me about Christmas decorations, we have boxes and boxes and boxes and boxes. and then a few bags.
am going to go now before I confess anything else...
I am so tired. I am seriously going to bed.
thnak you all it was lovely coming home to all this conversation in mydiary! he he

buffy thank you to you as well, apologies for sounding off on ur board, one of those weekends. But its monday 2day (ok tues am), so am trying to be positive. Phone calls all day, the police, who are on our side, but need evidence, the HA, who have got a massive guilt trip (at last), but are submitting more evidence to the court, the HA solicitor, who has made a big boob, she didnt give the court enough dates when we were away, so they have scheduled a 3 day hearing in the middle of our week in Blackpool, so she has that much egg on her face its funny.
Trying to be positive, and new motto is stick up for myself, (harder than it seems, but will give it a go), make the 6 weeks school hols spending as much time with daughter, then come Sept review the situation.
Some good news got my £50 from bview, mums had hers as well, so that help out for xmas.
Good re Florida, I know you have the debts, but can you look at getting a break there, not take it out of your main money but extras. Little un wants to go to swim with the dolpihins when shes older, got to be Mexico as thats where I did mine, she asked at 3 could she go, so we put all our 50ps up for her and she has got nearly £500 already. The moneys not been missed that way.
We're all here if you ever need anything, xxxx
Open Uni - might just do a couple of short courses next yr, just to keep the brain active, then go back to it (fingers crossed).xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
mum2one- they do grow up so fast so do spend time with her. I almost have to make appointment with 1 of mine as out or on line.
buffy I've never tried freecycle, is it worth it?long haul no 65:sad:

Hello everyone,
Kika - I think its great - freecycle that is I got rid of my fridge to a lovely women and now have my eye out for a Chest of drawers for my room......
Mumtoone, you sound off as much as you like, we had squatters/renters two doors down from us and they where insane to be honest but the land lord (private) was very good well sort of the other family across the road kept throwing paint at the house 'till they moved out it was some argument and nothing to with the parties and the cars and the motorbikes but it solved the problem cos the land lord suffered but nothing could be proved, so he had to chuck them out. his house looked awful in the end,
tis good that you are sticking up for yourself and getting some where, all those phone calls will pay off!
the summer holidays are such a lovely time hope you have fun with your daughter. i am seriously going to change my life. sounds mad but it will be a great time to really e bay and tidy and clear out and figure out what I am really doing with all this junk and debts.
I watched a programme tonight on Women who hoard:eek: . I am not as bad as the people onthe programme but I completely understood them and could identifiy with them, I mean a couple of them were clearly bonkers but one seemed very nice and I thought if I carry on the way I am I will be like that. I have so much stuff to ebay!!!
any how meant to be downloading scary updates, so best go see how that's all doing
see you later.
