hi Buffy, great name btw. just read your thread and wanted to send you some hugs. would swapping to cash - no plastic whatsoever? help? obviously excepting emergency vet bills but only exceptions like that, not shopping? taking 200 out at the beginning of the month and then that's it.i've done different purses in the past but now can't leave the house so have stopped.
I'm on sickleave atm and shopping online is SO easy. what about before purchasing post here and see how you feel 24 hours later? when the lakeland catalogue first came i mentally spent, ooh absolutely hundreds :rotfl: justifying each purchase for it's time saving/ effort saving/ ooooh pretty status. 2 weeks on i did make a purchase from there, spending £14.00 including postage. it's so dangerous when you read "spend x and get free postage" ooh a bargain -adds another £35 to cart type of thing.
the other things i've found helpful are to calculate how many hours i have to work to buy whatever, to rationalise the purchase, or would i pay someone to move this for me (good for clutter!)
I hope this isn't patronising and i hope you've had a good weekend.
Cod x
ooooooo another reader!!! and you aren't remotely patronising, I like the cash idea.... and the whole get "free" postage thing gets me everytime.
Due work not giving me an office I need to rearrange things here so I can work at home more....so i have been looking at furniture on Argos......
oh tempation never ends!
cheers tho, i welcome all ideas

Stop right there with the argos furniture thinglook on freecyle (just google freecyle and it will come up) - you can get loads of stuff there. Never actually picked up from it but have donated loads - old drinks fridges, coffee tables etc. Always goes like hotcakes and it's FREE :j Also look in Loot or the back of your local free paper. Argos indeed  ..... Well done with the OU essay - what ya studying by the way? My last short course was "ancient and medieval technologies" - well that cut short the conversation about the X-factor at work for a start!!!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
he he yes I belong to Freecycle, gave away a fridge and have been looking trouble is the gap I have it would need to be a very specific size. I will ask on my group and see!
I am studying a financial course (good)and a humanities course (boring )
I shall go ask in free cycle

Were on first name terms with the staff in the control room of the police station, and half the police force. The police have arrested 4 people from there, there out on bail. Environmental health (in my case) were as much use as a chocolate teapot, the problem we hit is we own the house, there under housing assosiation, he had a court hearing in Jan, they gave him an injunction, basically being a TXXT, but her keeps breaching it, back to court in March, so he pulled a "I suffer from depression" (we know is a load of !!!! and bull), but the court had to give him lenancy, the nxt heating in June, got adjorned as there was issues with his legal help, we were due to go end July, but the court has given us a 3 day hearing when were away, even though the solicitor had all the we cant do dates. So could be Spetember. Its like playing tennis, the housing assosication say its the polices responsuibility, they say no its th houseing assosiation, and the HA say to us, document it and we'll add it to the court file, thats no gd for me or daughter or even parents, when ur being blasted out at 2am in a morning!
Its a nightmare, we had the local CSO come up today to see how we all were, 3 hrs later he left!
Sounds daft even with all the hassle, mum reckons I look a lot better, as thou a big chip has been lifted from me. Guess thats packing in OU, Id done 3/6 assisgnments, half way throu no 4, but was still 5 weeks behind, and coz of the crutches, they were making special arrangements for the exam, no cost to me, but would be to them, I couldnt go any further knowing that Id fail the exam.
Im due to restudy Feb 09, but thats all up in the air, just have to wait and see.
It
that whole do a bit miss a bit is so true, that is exactly what happens. I can pinpoint the moments I give up a bit in my bank statements...... the worst thing is 2 of my Friends have birthdays this week, I have hardly any money for presents...
Sounds daft but my fail safe plan for a bday, is an iou, = night at cinema 2 of u, a meal (try 2 4 1 pub), that way you dont have to buy it now, and also they have something else to look forward to.
I love the idea of a holiday.it is so stupid cos if I stopped wasteful spending on nonsense I could go on holiday. The trouble is I want to many. Its stupid but goes back to 2001, Id originally planned to goto Sri Lanka and Maldives, (had my 2nd car accident in 2000, ended up on spinal board, neck blocks, that god it was a trapped nerve, but I promised myseld a hol of a lifetime), so the compensation paid for Sri Lanka +Maldives, but 2 weeks before Sri Lanka got blew up, so travel agent transferred me to Mexico, 2 days into that was 9/11. Then end 2001 I got the compensation for my 1st car accident, so planned again once in life time hols, 2002, Kenya in March, Goa in November...... small pronlem I got pregnant, so ended up in Turkey, Tunisa and Cyprus). Then when I left BK, (left in 2002, spent till 2005 suing them), Feb 2005 took an out of court settlement, 1st thing after paying bills, booked 2 weeks in Dom Rep, 3 days b4 I went - involved in an accident on a bus with my daughter, thats in court Aug this yr. Have a holiday, but do it the easy way!!
any how off to tidy up and sort out how I feel about carrying on with OU and Avon.
see you later hon xxxx
Im pleased you spoke to your other sister, is there not a chance you can spend some time with her when your a bit more financially secure, as a treat.
Ring or email your tutor, the one I had for business, was an absolute gem, I was having 3 weeks extensions on tmas, extra support if I got stuck, hopefully the 6 weeks hols might be a bit easier, give you chance to be you the person, kick your shoes off and have a chill.
One way or another you seem to of had the world put on ur shoulders, and in the nicest of way you need some me time, not in a selfish way,but time for you. xx
Ps Thank you in advance for my sound off, been one of those days xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

if you'd like to be purchase buddies pm me, i'll be that voice on your shoulder going is it necessary/ will you use it/ do you need it/ can you afford it :rotfl:
do you NEED a desk? is there one somewhere else in the house you can use? or a smaller one you could put a larger top on? any on freecycle? what about trying the tip? shabby chic is so in, any leftover paint could be used to spruce it up.
might be a really peculiar idea but if you've got lots of stuff (you mentioned the attic) could you rediscover old purchases? use it as a way to get that shopping "fix". we moved to our first house a year ago, a renovation project, due to this and my accident about 80% of our "stuff" is still in boxes. apart from really missing my saucepans (I just use one casserole dish or the steamer) i don't miss that stuff. why we have it i don't know and had a really massive clear out pre move, i swear it just grows :rotfl:
hope you've had a good day
