Unsure how to handle this tbh
Partner has a new job & needs to use only car.
Ive been told I have to buy one, myself to do the usual dad taxi etc stuff
When asked if they'd contribute, told theyd pay for themselves to be added to the insurance

Who owns the current car? Who bought it?0

They own it0

Ok, so thats kind of fair enough, assuming you didn't contribute to purchasing the car in the first instance.
When you mention you doing Dads taxi, is/are the kid(s) both of yours?0 -
Ok
kids aren't mine0 -
Sorry should have given more infoIm a stay at home dad, they both compete at county level0

So to clarify, they’re your partners children and you’re being expected to fund the buying of a car to run them around? Am I missing something here?I’d tell your partner you can’t afford to, they’re his/her children so need to rethink the whole idea0

Yep, that's about it
Conversation had… zero response other than its a promotion & their career0 -
Then tell them flat out that you can't afford to buy a car by yourself to take their children to their clubs etc.
If they can't contribute then surely they can't expect you to ferry their children round.
Zero response from them equals zero response from you in buying a motor.3 -
Maybe the promotion can fund real taxi's0

Do you need a car for anything other than child taxi duty?
New partner, or do you regard the kids as "yours"?
What income do you have, and savings?2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000
