Wow it seems ages since my last update (guess when things are boring that is a good thing). The week since last update has flown by covered by lots of work travel, work meetings and chuck in some school and life admin stuff and it has felt pretty chaotic.
The weekend went by without much incident and was very much a low key weekend, we did have another movie night which we are keen to repeat. We are also hoping to start the routine of eating meals together more regular both from a catch up point of view but also trying to squeeze those costs down a little. Although I am aware this is inevitable that food and stuff seems to be ever increasing. We definitely do end up buying too much or not been as savvy as we could be. I am still to the inventory so that needs to be done and we will then plan meals around that for now.
Fuel cost is another high point but is totally unavoidable, I haven't had to top up yet again due to low travel weekend and also working today from home helped. I will have to top up at the weekend I think though.
Monday' didn't Monday as much as it could have done and I am slowly finding that I am able to get some tasks done and that list is decreasing, although I am sure the gods are against me having a clear list as somehow as I am near the end another chunk of tasks appear haha. Work is gliding along at the minute but I do feel a big crash point coming along the way so I am just keeping my head down the best I can right now.
I got the 2nd part of the car repair done today and it came out cheaper than originally quoted by about £30 which is small but a win nevertheless so I will take it. Tonight's plan is to have a nice dinner and then to relax with some tv. I am trying to sleep a little earlier but somehow I am feeling worse for it so need to figure that out
So my car pot now has £75 in there which is pretty much near the point where I can pay my breakdown cover in one instalment and find a cheaper alternative than my current provider. The current deal expires in November so I am going to look at making sure auto-renew is disabled (if it even has this). So I can then purchase the new one from my October salary.
Our emergency fund is currently sat at £500 and I am comfortable with this at the minute I am actually quite grateful to be in this position as I know that not many are that fortunate and from my own experience of a minor repair could de rail everything. This would cover most of what we would deem an emergency, even if a major car repair bill came in then this would go either towards it or at least cover travel to work for a period. I figure ultimately this little buffer is what we all aim for.
I think I am going to take some time to review what our annual goals should be and then split them into segments of the year.
Hope everyone is keeping well.

Food and fuel seem to be relentlessly climbing in cost don’t they. But by covering that and still holding onto an emergency fund you’re certainly in a better position than many others. I have to remind myself of that quite regularly! Glad work is okay at the moment.

@Dakota_Rose Yeah they do, and unfortunately we all have to eat and travel haha so not much we can do other than to try just adjust the best we can. We have the added extra of needing special dietary stuff too so I could do with costs even just stabilising haha. I hate seeing just how little is in the trolley compared to the figure on the receipt ha.
Work is been delicate with me at the minute. I have kind of changed how I work a little and that seems to have helped a bit. I am still feeling exhausted though. I hope your work week hasn't been too rough

Not been much of a week as yet FFT as I’ve been off sick today - I’ve been wiped out with a migraine. We’re coming up to a week off soon so that will be really welcome. There’s not much I can do to lighten the load when I’m there so just counting down the days for a breather.
