Hope everyone has had a good Saturday, ours has been pretty busy but nothing exciting. I've done the weekly food shop online. Tomorrow is another early start with football, so that should be a nice day. Food shopping came in just about on budget, there will be not as much spent on petrol this week as first few days will be working from home.
I had an email from my manager on Friday, after a pretty frustrating chat, which he detailed my expected job role…and there is then a line in there about potentially taking on even more work should the business determine it is suitable….

should the business determine??? Wow. Think you need to start keeping a bit of a work diary detailing how you spend your time. If they think you can do more then you need to show it and ask where you are doing the job you currently have slower than expected and how you can speed up to accommodate this extra work. I suspect there won't be an answer they can give.

@daisy_1571I think it comes down to the fact they keep promising stuff they can't deliver. I am all for helping out where I can, but yeah how the heck I pick up someone else's work coz they have messed it up is just a joke imo. They just keep changing the goal posts with stuff tbh

I refused to sign my contract when I got my promotion, as the new contract was horrendous. It said they could lay me off and still prevent me from working elsewhere in case they needed me back. They also set 37.5 hours as minimum weekly hours and said they could send me anywhere in the country as the business needed. I'm not sure if not signing makes any difference really but I couldn't bring myself to do it out of principle.

@Rhyddid2026 I am starting to learn I am going to need to start covering my self as people are now just trying to push blame around everywhere. A member of staff as tried to push something to been my fault when it isn't luckily when questioned by my manager I was able to show and document what I had said was correct. 🤬 I think today is actually the day that has pushed me to consider my options…nothing rash but start finding an escape route

I'm sorry it came to a head today, but also unfortunately not surprised.
Everyone seems to prefer to "just chat things through" but I always follow up with an email unless it's my own little team that I trust.

Lesson well and truly learnt 😊. I’m frustrated because I’ve no reason to lie. I thought ppl knew me better than that so I’m more annoyed at that.

Ah and breathe… today has felt a touch better. I’ve taken the approach of fixing one thing on my work list at a time.
There’s no transfer activity today, well at least not incoming. My car has survived the scare 😂 it wasn’t has bad as I suspected it could have been, still enough to have a dent in emergency fund but I’m thankful I didn’t have to worry which credit card was funding the repairs. There is still a piece to be fixed at another date but for now it’s fixed and drivable which is a huge relief to me and probably to daughter who can now have an extra hour in bed on a morning again.

Great news that the car was repaired without wiping out the EF!
