@Dakota_Rose yeah we have been at a point where we just didn't even know how we were going to feed ourselves or deciding between electric or food. I think we've always just managed to muddle through things and that was a long time okay. We've managed to slowly increase the wage brackets we have to live with and this one is very comfortable, but I am also very aware of the strain and stresses the job (or more likely myself) is currently putting my body through. My partner is very supportive and is very much 'ah just quit we will be fine' haha she is like that little devil on ya shoulder! I am trying to be a bit more level headed about it.

I think the exit strategy is probably the one I need to be serious about so that should it become that way I can be in a place to leave. I do think I need to approach things a little differently and I am trying to do so. I think it has just felt non stop since coming back from holiday and I ended up taking on two extra projects which have caused a mountain of work that wasn't expected. I am hopeful from September the load might lighten a little

Happy Friday 😀, the week has seemed to have flown by this week and looking forward to a weekend away. I am hopeful of not totally blowing the budget out of the water but we have some funds put away to cover most of what we will be doing.

Hope everyone has a great last day of the working week

My day was as calm as it could be, and now it is time to relax for the weekend. I have one week left next week and I have been advised to handover a lot of my work so I can prioritise a critical client. Long term this should be good for me

Another weekend that is coming to a close and it's been a spendy weekend but also a very nice one too so I am not worrying over it too much (which is probably not very MSE). We've had a great weekend at the coast and last night ended up just finding a family friendly entertainment place where we had a few drinks and just enjoyed our night on the dancefloor. It is nice sometimes to forget the weekly rubbish and switch off. Today we had a few hours on rollercoasters…which I am sure my body will thank me for in the morning 🤣. Tomorrow I am keen to get the handover process at work sorted so I can get off my list the stuff that isnt my problem any more

I need to see what the budget situation is like which I will do tomorrow. Hope everyone had a good weekend

That sounds like a super weekend! I bet the whole family feels like they’ve had a mini-holiday.

We are all exhausted but in a good way @Dakota_Rose I do think it is time to have a few less busy weekends though. We were away for the day last weekend and then 2 days this which is very out of the ordinary for us as we are generally boring and like our chill time 😂.

That is Monday done and dusted. It has felt like an okay day, and progress made where needed. Finances still need looking at and that will be my task tonight. Tomorrow we have finally got the missing part of the table arriving which is good so we can finally get the living / dining area looking somewhat normal and get rid of all the cardboard boxes.

We need to get shopping sorted, I am going to try put some time into doing that later if I get a chance to do so, and then tomorrow I will need to top up petrol.

An early night, normally results in an early wake up 😂 so we are up on this wonderful transfer Tuesday and ready to attack the day. I need to sort my list of work stuff to sort and looking at trying to progress my handover. I have a few priority jobs on my list today which I plan to complete first thing, which hopefully allows for a steadier afternoon (potentially from home).

    Today's personal to do

    • Top up petrol - this should be the last week of this as no work next two weeks after this week so I will put enough in to cover rest of week and then bit extra for any social travel.
    • Do a food shop, really need to do this tonight, so will pop in to shop on route home from work
    • (Hopefully) put up new dining table and sort the recycling. One of our tips close at 7pm, so potentially could do a trip there later.
    • Do my usual transfers, not sure what I am allocating to today so still to be decided.

I am trying to be a bit more thankful for where I am with stuff, yes work is stressful at the moment but I need to try be more grateful for the things and ppl I have in my life which is more than some have. I am feeling grateful for having the missus and little one trying to cheer me up and take my mind off work.

Time for a brew, and to sort my list.

EDIT: Managed to get my tasks all done. Transfer Tuesday will be later once I've had some food :D

Today has been a drag, constantly changing plans for stuff haha. However we finally got our table and it was nice to be able to sit and not eat dinner from the sofa! Although the delivery / exchange still is a mess. Whilst we all love the table, and fully accept stuff can go wrong I will never buy from this company again. I've had to chase twice, sit in twice and we still haven't had resolved the issues.

    Transfer Tuesday

£38.18 into the emergency fund. This is now sat at £700 (we moved over my £350 target to the car funds as felt a bit better) so I will start funding the emergency fund again a little. We are pretty comfortable with where it is at the minute

£29.10 added to xmas fund. This now sits at £70 and this is used and topped up as needed

We do need to keep a little bit back for our pending day to Scotland once my missus's sister has her baby but that will be a few weeks away yet. We've also had to buy a new iron as our just broke, but this was replaced pretty reasonably. The food shop was a bit over budget for the week but we are still within our monthly allowance.
