Nice to read such a positive report for the end of the week. Well done to your little one for getting through SATS week - it’s given the week a different feel for sure in our house.
It’s good to hear that things are heading upwards with finances too 😊2 -
Hope every1 had a good weekend, and a not so Monday…Monday 😊. I need to take a look at my weekend spends which can be tomorrow task as can't be bothered tonight ha, it was probably more expensive than planned. Myself and the missus went out on Saturday for food n drinks whilst the little one was living her best life at her friends party. There has also been petrol topped up and food shopping, although still have fund in the food pot so not over budget yet which is a positive.
Today has been an okay day at work, I am I full on countdown mode though hah. 4 days until that out of office goes on. It has been a bit of an admin day today just trying to get an handover sorted. Tea tonight was just a quick pizza, so gunna sit with a brew and the footy on tv

I expect my next couple of days to be busy just getting everything place to be covered while I’m off but honestly once I’m out office then I am not thinking about work again until I log back in on the 2nd June 😊

I've updated all my YNAB transactions, all balances now up to date and on track. I do need to get better at adding these in if this tool is meant to make me accountable.
Transfer Tuesday
£35 into Emergency Funds - Now balance is £300.00
Only a small transfer this week, but enough to get the emergency fund to £300 which is a good amount for the time being.
I need to become a bit more accountable to myself from a lot of aspect really. Today I stepped on scales for the first time in a long time (I've never really checked before as I was pretty much a consistent weight for about 15 years) the figure was quite a bit meh. So once I am back from holiday this needs to be kept in check. I do suspect this has come from a few months of stress, lack of sleep, poor eating, and a more than usual alcohol consumption…all of which I am not really happy with. I also am not exercising anywhere near what I was. I think there needs to be some level of consistency from me with meal planning and sticking to it.
Work wise, I need a bit of a reset in mindset and the handover of my work and transition into my actual role provides the perfect opportunity to set some goals, foundations but also boundaries. I have got to the point where I need to do one massive handover of projects / updates to the team that are taking my projects on as I think that is only fair. Plus an handover of works that I am near completion on but need pushing through while I am on leave. The hope is that when I then come back from annual leave I can focus on getting on top of things in my actual role and thriving.
Financially, I want to set some realistic goals, we've had a chat as a couple over lunch and drinks about what our goals are and we are both pretty keen on our own home. I think we need to maybe set in place targets around this. I am keen to keep pushing up contributions to our emergency fund and a few annual bills such as the car servicing and other small stuff. I feel at the minute we are just coasting through without any real aims or goals which means that we are probably not been as savvy as we could be. I think it does need to be a mix of enjoying ourselves but also prioritising the house deposit.
We will of course need to make the best of what we currently do have housing wise, we have Japanese knotweed in the garden which the council are dragging their heels over sorting but we need to keep pushing them to sort, plus the fencing does need fixing. We do have a fox that keeps visiting which is lovely…but they've broken the fence getting in ha.
Anywayssssss, ramble over for now…just place to drop some thoughts. 5 days until holiday ☀️

It’s the perfect place for a brain dump and it’s all useful for helping to clarify thinking.
The emergency fund is climbing up nicely!1 -
I do need to try pin down some of the other known expenses tbh, but whilst I am at least building an emergency fund I am content. I am planning on going pretty hard at it once we are back from holiday and I have May salary.
I do find it rather therapeutic just having an internet void to ramble to haha.

You’ve mentioned the goal of owning your own house before, and I feel this is a great one for you as a family.

The LISA is something we opened a while ago but never really funded it much or have it much thought. This was just because everything else seemed to take priority, our costs now vs my income is pretty low so can now concentrate on funding it more.
