Road To Financial Recovery

Well that Tuesday back wasn't too bad (except the overly noisy distracting office). I managed to get a few urgent stuff sorted and I am in a place now where I can switch off mostly now and not worry about work until the next day. Today I put £250 into my emergency funds and I also put £50 into my mono investments account - not much but it is a start.
Hope everyone had a good day back

Oh well that was an overstimulating / overwhelming day, but we survived it…just about. I am having a chat next week with my boss about maybe moving into one of the smaller offices. It shouldn't be a big deal, and maybe an over-reaction on my part but I just can not get to grips with literally been able to hear every single conversation in the office about stuff that is just not appropriate for an office ( I know how boring that sounds 🤣) This coupled with being interupted every moment ppl get, grrr… Anyway, I have finally spent my voucher that I got for my returned jeans and bought 3 tops which are all nice. I need to buy a few bits more for holiday which I will do this weekend. Also need to complete online check-in, and dig out all important documents.
Thank the lord it is Friday tomorrow, I was going to have a WFH day but I need to check stuff in the office so that won't be happening but might have an afternoon WFH.

I couldn’t cope with a busy/noisy office all day every day either! I’d definitely ask for the adjustment as it will likely make you more productive.

We used to have a fancy office where I was upstairs out of the way and it was so much better. We moved to benefit the planning team which is fine, but that seems to have been done without consideration of others. I am by no means thinking everyone should work in silence lol but like how loud do ppl need to talk about their outside of work lives 🤣. Oh god I sound well boring haha. I am not the only one struggling with it and some staff have specifically asked to move out of the way due to noise. I like calm, I tend to just put my headphones in. It has defo had an impact on my productivity

Just catching up, congrats on the new job! I totally agree with hating being in a noisy office, my desk is in quite a central position where people are often walking backwards and forwards, just passing through, so they seem to think its the perfect place to stop and talk. I'm not very subtle in telling them to jog on when I need to focus though 🤣

Thank you :) - yeah I think I need to practice telling people no a bit better. I am tucked away in the corner so as far out of the way as I can be. I tend to just put in earphones so I am trying to be more productive

Not much to report finance wise - although the eating out budget took another beating yesterday 🤣. We went and had lunch and a few drinks with my bro and sis in law which is always one of our fave things. Most of my family never really bother with us, but we have always been close with bro and sis in law. It was good to catch up. The rest of yesterday was then spent just helping daughter with some school revision stuff and preparing her for her SATS.
Today has been a chill one, spent most of day watching footy and relaxing.
We've got enough food to last through till midweek so will probably do a top up shop then, petrol should be fine until Friday hopefully. I have used some saved personal spends to buy some new trainers that were on sale and a few tops.
I also today for the first time in forever had some form of proper self care with a nice relaxing bath and skin care (very girly lol - but gosh did I feel refreshed). It isn't something I have always done, but absolutely convinced this would be a good thing to get into a proper routine. It made me feel refreshed and good for the first time in a very long time.
Tonight, I am going to get my work stuff ready. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Oh we also managed to do online check in for our holiday which is just around the corner now.

I fully recommend hot bubble baths as a way to decompress during the working week!

My DS is probably around your age (41) and loves a good soak in the bath. I bought some skin creams back from our recent trip to Lanzarote for my DIL and he admitted he really likes them 😆 I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪3
