Road To Financial Recovery

@Dakota_Rose very true, I am hoping to keep slowly building towards a balanced approach. It has been a rough few months for a variety of reasons so just trying to take each day as it comes. I am trying to actually take a step back and relax some rather than feeling constantly switched on.

Just checking in to keep myself accountable. There is no real changes financially, and the budget is looking okay at the moment. This week has been okay so far, still work challenges, but also today had a meeting about transition into high school for the little one which is fast approaching.
We are also having real conversations about our holiday arrangements, each member of our little family have raised a few concerns (some valid despite been out of our control…damn world events) but then also some things that I just pushed aside when I impulsively booked….oh I do that alot…🫣. It should be a dream vacation but it is just filling me with dread….queues for hours, crowded, red hot..all of which doesn't sound the fun it should be but also one of things I knew in advance and still ignored. It could just be jitters, but all very valid concerns. We also would end up taking little one out of school three weeks into high school, which on reflection isn't ideal. She is already going to have a real challenge (autism) settling in and I am not sure taking her out so early into transition sits right with me.
I guess that is a decision we need to weigh up. The other potential is to use the funds we get back, which is all minus deposit, to book a break back to spain at end of her SATS in May and use the rest to put towards house things we need to sort. Damn my brain, I thought it would be perfect but the more I think of it the more i just think it isn't us.
Rambling now, but in work stuff, I am still yet to actually do anything new role wise but i am being paid the new role salary 😂

At the midway point of the week - tonight will be a late night as I need to work tomorrow night. The plan is to make myself as tired as I can, and then sleep through day tomorrow. Today has felt pretty busy but I have just kept my head down. Yesterday we had our first transition meeting for move to high school which was interesting.
In finance news, the amount I am topping up the car is frightening! I could swear my car is drinking it by the gallon 🤣

I can relate to the holiday thing! On occasions I feel like we just don’t travel enough or do anything out of our usual but as soon as I start thinking about the actual logistics of the travel and temperature with very travel/heat-averse children, it starts to feel stress-inducing. We’ll stick to ‘up north’ 😂

Yeah it’s a little bittter sweet coz we’ve saved really hard for it but the fact we’re questioning it and with circumstances as they are it’s absolutely the right decision to make. The heat we have in Europe abroad isn’t too bad but the thought of just been in queues in that heat just ugh! 😂

It sounds like you’ve made up your mind. I think there’s a reason we do sometimes. You need to feel safe and be able to enjoy it for sure.

I think there’s a few reasons, so we will have discussion and see what happens, but yes I’m very much content up north ha
